Hey,

I would like to ask a Mod to create a poll to find out the favourite Final Fantasy of the OcUK community.

I realise there will be a lot of people here saying these games sucked and RPG's are lame but no one can deny this line has had a deep effect on consoles such as the Snes, PS1 and even today after 23 years is still going strong :D

1. Final Fantasy
2. Final Fantasy II
3. Final Fantasy III
4. Final Fantasy IV
5. Final Fantasy V
6. Final Fantasy VI
7. Final Fantasy VII
8. Final Fantasy VIII
9. Final Fantasy IX
10. Final Fantasy X
11. Final Fantasy X-2
12. Final Fantasy XII
13. Final Fantasy XIII

i think if youv played more then 2 ff games to completion - you need to get out more.
maybe this is a troll like comment...but really!

given the amount of pre-owned ff13 games that hit stores within a week of its release i wouldn't say that the series is going strong at all.

Not troll, just stupid.

I've completed FFVI, VII, VIII, IX, X, X-2 (bleurgh!) and XIII. I've got a long term girlfriend (7 years and counting), full time challenging job (teaching secondary school) and a healthy social life.

It's perfectly possible in the 2 decades+ that final fantasy games have been available for someone to have completed ALL of them and still have a great social life.

Bit too defensive there...:D

as someone already said, not troll, just stupid.

you can spend 30 minutes a day playing final fantasy and have 2 games completed within a few months

WOW 2 months of my life i spent playing a game for 30 minutes a day, I really need to get out more!!

The people who need to get out more are those who rack up 12,000 playing hours on world of warcraft :)

By a country mile for me. More interesting storyline, better setting, better battle system, better music (i heart Nobu), better graphics and on the whole better characters.

+1

9 was utter rubbish. hated every second of playing that game. i dont really consider it a final fantasy (personally). i didnt like any of the characters at all, they seemed too "fluffy" and fake. it was like the whole game was designed for a younger child.

better music (i heart Nobu)

FFX was the first game where Nobuo Uematsu didn't compose all of the soundtrack :p The FFIX soundtrack is excellent, I think perhaps even better than the FFX one. (the Piano Collections version is amazing!)

VI for me ;)

Closely followed by VII or VIII, I also like IX and X.

X-2, XII and XIII weren't old fashioned enough for me :/

Better graphics is hardly something you can note since it was on a different console!

But fair enough, each to their own, I personally thought Squall from 8 was the most annoying lead they had until 12 came along.

I didn't like the limit system in 9 but thought the quick change ability in 10 was a bit strange. Some of the FMVs in 9 were amazing, but it was a bit 'Disney' around the character design.

The comment about not considering it a Final Fantasy however are a bit off, it was an attempt to return to 'traditional' character roles, which may have failed in other departments.

You have, however, convinced me that I need to replay 10, although I die a little inside each time I see the fake laugh scene.

So do i. But the voice acting does improve dramatically as the game continues. I can only assume this is because the voice actors were relatively inexperienced (read: cheap) so they improved due to the experience gained from the role. I'll post some examples to show my point in a second.

Here we go:

SPOILARS

The early, damn awful :( :

To the later, much better:

Yeah it's not Oscar material by any stretch of the imagination, but it became much less cringe-worthy and, for its time, it was some of the best voice acting in gaming.

Unfortunately ever increasing budgets and talent has really made it show its age :(
