Don't you hate it that most PC Games these days are mainly console ports. OR they seem to be console ports.

Take for example:

Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising.
Battlefield Bad Company 2

The first one was a complete console port and i think it sucked. I bought it, installed it, played for like 5 minutes and unistalled it because it was so crap for pc.

Battlefield i feel like it just feels like a console game. With the auto aim knife and everything.

DEVELOPERS and PUBLISHERS! BRING BACK OLD SCHOOL PC GAMING! Espically the battlefield series! BF2142 and BF2 were awesome!
 
Just Cause 2 was DX10+ only, so not possibly a console port.

Mafia 2 is a shoddy port TO the consoles. :p

Operation Flashpoint was never going to be good, anybody that got hyped up about that is a fool.

OF:DR sucked on PC AND Console, it was not like the console version was great.
BF:BC2 - I am playing through the campaign and find it amazingly good fun with good production values. For what the game is meant to be, I LIKE IT as it does what it is supposed to do.

Can I report the thread for being "rude"?
 
Civilization aint a port, Tropico aint a port, Pirates aint a port, L4D2 aint a port, GhostBusters aint a port, Total War series aint a port, Warhammer aint a port, Overlord aint a port....

The money's with consoles now... it makes far more sense to develop for them as lead platforms unless you're making a game from a huge PC franchise..of which there are about 3 left :(

oh noes pc gaming is on the ropes lol, of course.
heres the deal that some pc owners fail to realise (actually theres a few points here)

1) bc2 was actually a console game originally , pc owners were lucky to get a version at all.
2) just bc many pc gamers decide to spend stupid amounts of money for over the top hardware does not mean developers have the time or resources to make games for it!
3) theres not a lot of money in pc gaming unless you have a massive ip.

pc gaming will always be around, but just because many pc gamers are gulable, stupid, and have the craze for new pointless hardware like many rats have rabies...doesnt mean that devs actually want to put ridiculous amounts of time in making x feature look that little bit pretty so mr johnny can claim he plays crysis 3000 at 20x6 res on ultra.

heres a good one for anyone that cares to listen: the next time you think you need to spend £200+ on the latest overhyped gpu that no games can actually make use of...how about you spend it on a console instead and enjoy the best of both worlds.trust me your be far far happier.

Consoles is where the money is. And making games is a business. I'm actually thankful for consoles because they enable developers to make a profit which in turn leads to making more games. Sure some companies get greedy and do a really lazy job of porting a successful game from console to PC, but not all of them are terrible. Bad company 2 is actually a pretty good game, and no one can deny that it looks stunning. I don't know much about console games or even PC games for that matter, but what I do know is that if it wasn't for consoles then it would be a fairly boring life as a PC gamer, because there wouldn't be so many games to play.

I know people are going to heavily disagree with me but just open your eyes and think what we would have if it wasn't for the money a console brings in. And devs cant go out all guns blazing making the next Crysis game because only a small percentage of the pc market will be able to play such awesome looking games. They need to appeal to the mass market in order to get a decent return and the only way to do that is, yes you guessed it, make it for a console.

This is the biggest pile of crap i've read in terms of PC slating, it really amazing what some people come out with. You clearly havent played BC2 on a console and a decent PC because if you had, you wouldnt be spouting such absolute rubbish
