I remember reading an online article about people who go around places and take photos in places like Chernobyl etc and other abandoned places.

I am interested to marvel at some more, but I cannot remember for the life of me the name of the site or indeed what they call this hobby.

Does anyone have links to sites that offer such imagery and preferably some that could be used as HQ wallpapers?

Our Houses of Parliament - Haven't they been abandoned?

The Politicians get more time off than school teachers. It's no wonder the government won't take on the teachers and thereby improve childrens' education. (my thoughts only of course).

I cannot check these sources at work, but do these have international destinations as well? Seems to be an awful lot of .co.uk sites.

I recently accidently visited a town called Camden in New Jersey, while on a business trip to Philly. So bad was the place, I had to google it when i got back to my hotel, only to find that it was the 2nd most dangerous place in the US. Half the buildings were abandoned.. Everything was overgrown and poverty was everywhere. Had no idea where i was at time and it was a real eye opener to see this place in the richest country in the world. Been to plenty of toilets, a few in England too, Wolverhampton, Manchester nr the City stadium and some other grim places up north, and even down South, such as nasty Carlshalton but nothing came close to this place..

Obviously we are talking Western World here.. Of course there are places in the world that make these places look like palaces in comparision.

Isn't there a town in France somewhere that the Nazi's rounded up all the towns people, chained them into the towns church and burned them all alive? As a memorial they left the place intact.. dunno what it's called mind.. But apparantly if you go there, you'll see old 1940's prams left on their side in the middle of the road and such things as that.

Anyone else heard something similar?

I haven't, but I would love to visit somewhere that has been abandoned for a very very long time.

I imagine it's quiet an experience.

On a slight tangent.

Did anyone ever see years ago on TV a program (game show) where a group of people where challenged to spend a night in an asylum that was abandoned?

Some of the stuff they had to do was insane! They had to go out at night and explore and pick up and take things back to the control room, one guy had to go to the morgue, climb inside one of slabs and lie there for 5 minutes.....
