Any ikea desk owners in here

If you like wobbly desks, buy Ikea desks! Not a fan of ikea at all.

been a joiner since forever it seems so making it sturdy won't be a problem, i would make the desk from scratch but the prices of black laminate are crazy at the minute just a single sheet will end up costing me more than the whole desk from ikea, And i don't really have the room at my new house to be laminating stuff especially using the resin with baby in the house is not a gr8 idea...

thx for your input tho

^ That depends on what you go for.

I've got the Jonas, as have many people on here.

It's a really thick, chunky well made and stable desk.

Yeah they just don't do desks in black in my size it needs to be ideally 2000mm wide and minimum of 650mm deep, i could probably lose some of the length say take it down to 1500mm But i'd like to try and avoid that if possible.

As a scandinavian pretty much all I got is IKEA furniture ;)

It's very dark brown so that it almost looks black.

ah right well i have lots of black ash furniture including a very exspensive fish tank hence why i need the black desk #

do you think it would pass for black and is it flat semi gloss finish or does it have a grain effect

sorry for all the questions

thx

I bought the Mikael one(not sure if they still do it) a few years ago. It was described as black and was very much black so I would imagine that particular one is a dark brown.

If you're going for a darker wood desk I would invest in some sort of glass top. Mines has an ever growing amount of chips on it.

I have had 7 VIKA AMON desks (every colour other than the black one). Not one of them has had any problems whatsoever. I swear by them.

Yeah i think they stopped doing the mikael unless someone can correct me. Glass top might be a good idea,

Just gotta get the colour sorted first tho lol

I'm not sure. I think you should go check it out in store if you are really worried about it matching :)

Edit: Have a look at this. That's the colour it would look like in full daylight. So not quite as dark as I remembered.

Just sounds like you're crap with flat pack furniture. :p

I live in a rented flat and ALL the furniture is from IKEA and it all wobbles and the sofa is so uncomfy that its almost intollerable.

I went round the one in Warrington and it is all full of square, plastic, low quality, modernist tac that looks like it was styled in the 80s. Can't stand them.

surpsied no one has said to build it yourself yet for £20~ and you get exactly what you want.

ikea is great as it's cheap, not because it's great quality imo. been to enough places with ikea stuff falling apart if you so much as lean on it.

He's already said he's a joiner and would be able to make one easily, it wouldn't be that cheap.

OP:

I have a Ikea bookshelf in black/brown. It's very dark, though with the lights on it has a dark brown 'grain' pattern to it. It's matt and I don't recall a texture to it.

Same. A few creaks here and there, otherwise it's solid. There's also been a fair bit of standing on it replacing photo frames.

Just tried to move mine and I couldnt even shake it. Matches my flooring perfectly too! The draws which go with the desk aren't so perfect but they are an added extra!
