*****Official Mafia II Thread*****

Graphics look great but you cant seem to free roam much which is kind of annoying, i was really looking forward to sight seeing round the city.

Also keep getting real sudden FPS drops from 60fps to 30fps which i never got in the demo, i have a good setup that can run any game well even GTA 4 runs amazing. I have everything set to high at a res of 1600x900, anyone else have this issue?
 
I can run at 1920x1080 everything maxed with physics enabled and i get minimal slowdown only a little judder now and again.. This game is deffinately optimised for nvidia gpu,s....
 
Well it realy is not a sandbox game. Gameplay is just cover and shoot. The shootouts look great though.

Im invested in the story enough to keep me playing. Im on chapter 8 and would give it 7.8 so far
 
Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhh i dunno what some of you people are moaning about? I put mafia 1 down as my all time favorite game, and altho this isnt as good a mafia 1 its still a great game, im on chapter 14 now so not long left.
The few things i could moan about are the fact its fairly short, now i dont care about a MP as there was none in the first but why they left ou a free roam mode is beyond me, they have mentioned on the forums the game will be modable so we should see a free roam mode added if they dont do it themselvs in a patch.
 
I love it so far. Never played the first one so have nothing to compare, but this one is enjoyable mindless fun. The story is easy to follow and gameplay adequate.

Just tried it and it work's perfectly, although i suggest you backup your saves as it does overwrite your stats.

I,m not really enjoying this at all. I keep trying too but just get bored and go on a rampage running people over....Its just drive shoot, drive shoot... The water effects are nice by the docks though...
 
I managed to get it refunded from steam and it has disappeared from my library this morning. I requested a refund before it was released :)
 
One of the best games of the year and simply great game all-around. A proper sequel to the original Mafia and finally a game that consoles didn't ruin in one way or the other. Too bad about the "missing" content and lack of freeride (well,without mods anyway). Now that they have the engine up and running, maybe a quick sequel in a year or two? DLC I will skip anyway. Hate the price/content ratio.
 
Well I'm enjoying this a lot. My only gripe is the rubbish performance but thats more likely down to only having my laptop to play it on. Have everything on low :(.

Most of the time I get 25-30fps but occasionally it drops to 2-4fps for no apparent reason. Hoping they release a patch to sort it out.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I've tried all sorts of settings in game, catalyst AI is disabled, running the game in a window etc. Also tried catalyst 10.7 and 10.8 with no difference. Spec is in sig.

The demo didnt have any problems with my pc.

EDIT: fixed, need to set AA settings within CCC to application controlled.

I appreciate the free roam mod but what is the point when you can't actually do anything save for drive around, buy clothes, eat food, or shoot people. There are no side missions, hell you can't even visit a cat house. Son, I am disappoint. :(
