Not really the same thing is it, i didnt not buy something else in favour of it for practicality reasons :p

Besides, same boot setup and door number as the RX8 ;)

Just the statement on its own out of context coming from you was funny is all.

You are 22 years old. When you are 45, you can bleat about the practicality issues of a 4 door saloon car. Life is for enjoying right now. Go and buy your RX8. It's got 4 doors!

oh the irony! :D

They dont make them anymore and they are just going to get older. Do it.

They do actually.

I thought they had announced an end to production? If not, it can't be very far away, so the point still stands. Time to enjoy an RX8 is going to begin to fizzle away.

Is it dim-day or something?!

He is saying he wants a 4 door saloon - the RX8 - but cannot. I'm saying, dont worry about it, get it, and enjoy it. I fail to see 'irony' in that statement at all.

Well, technicalities aside, its not a 4 door saloon - its a 2+2(*.5:D) coupé, and as such offers just a small improvement in practicality over any other coupé.

They have announced the end of the RX8 - I believe it was the first to go as a result of the Euro 5. I don't know the exact details, but I doubt they are still making them.

You need to be pretty short sighted to consider the RX8 bad because of its engine, as this is one of its best features

So one of the best RX8 features is an engine with fuel consumption completely disproportionate to it's power output, a tenancy to flood, comical oil consumption and some very, very serious reliability concerns?

It is you who is the dim-day in this exchange, now excuse me while I espouse the hidden and unquantifiable enjoyment of things else where.

That's just a car having character, its additional value if anything.

The Rx-8 is on my list of cars to consider but the talk of running costs and reliability have put me off

Are they really that bad?

STFU and buy one already, then spend your spare cash on a FIAT Multipla to ferry your brood around in. :p

Having owned an RX8 for a year, I know all about their problems and i'd never touch another one! I suspect a large percentage of RX8's with 50k or more on the clock will have worn rotor tips / compression problems. Certainly don't buy one without getting a compression test done first. Oh, and if you think a Mazda warranty will protect you, you're wrong! Mazda don't want to know, they just sweep this issue under the carpet. Fuel economy is a shocker too! I was expecting to get 20 odd mpg, but 16mpg was nearer the truth!

Sounds like they have loads of character, a must buy!

Fox Fox Fox...c'mon...surely you can see why this causes some of us to smirk.....? :p

You need to be pretty short sighted to consider the RX8 bad because of its engine, as this is one of its best features - but so many people do dismiss it, usually because they simply do not understand it (And because it doesn't "feel" fast).

Learn how to use the engine, and get off straight roads and onto some bendy roads and it'll all make sense. It's also beautifully smooth when driving normally.

Trust me, I know how the engine works and I didn't just drive sedately up to 30 on a straight road.

When I was considering one I drove both the 192 and 231 quite considerably and gave them both a damn good thrashing and I still stand by my opinion that the engine is the weakest link.

Putting such an awful engine in an otherwise good car doesn't make sense, that's for sure. I've driven and owned enough cars that don't "feel" fast but they were still good cars, the RX8 is massively let down by the choice of rotary engine. The engine doesn't have any redeeming features at all. You might bleat on about how smooth it is but so is a 6 cylinder BMW and they don't drink oil, get low teen mpg and flood when you reverse out of your garage and switch the engine off.

You're not serious, surely? :o

No? It shows the car has personality and spirit, a soul if you will. It's an element of its genuine sportiness. You have to look after it and it will look after you, if you don't, it'll complain. Boring unsporty cars may be reliable, but how boring is that!

oh the irony! :D
