All my Benchmarks in this thread! HD5970 OC - i7-930 OC @ 4.22GHz

i detect a lot of jelousy :p

I think it's more benchmarks like this belong in the 5970 thread, no need for a single thread in the game section. It's to discuss games and issues with them in this part of the forum not list a single persons benchmarks.

Last time I benchmarked some stuff I just posted them in the cards thread in the graphics section, seemed like everybody else did that too.

It's not the benchmarks so much, it's that it's a thread for HIS benchmarks, rather than a 'Post your benchmarks!" thread, which would be quite interesting.

This is just not very interesting. And Regulus, issues much?

Yes my friend, I have issues with people derailing threads because they're pathetically jealous. Don't pretend otherwise. I've been posting here long enough to notice the swaths descending on someone that has something others don't. Or has something others want. It's irritating and childish. If you think the thread is in the wrong section, politely remind or notify a Don. Don't spew bile.

There's people amongst here that is interested in acquiring a 5970 but want as much information as possible before laying out £400+. There can never be enough benchmarks posted. Ever.

Well I'm certainly not jealous this guy has a better graphics card than me, if I wanted a better card I'd have got one ages ago, it's not like PC gaming has a lot of demanding games out these days. Crysis and Metro hold the crown and neither of them were exactly amazing. :o

I'm a bit miffed why you and others would jump to jealousy, I just don't see why the benchmarks are in the PC games section and not in a thread about the card itself or benchmarks for one specific game. (had threads like that before in here which worked)

I'm currently thinking about buying and plan on overclocking to the following:

Intel Core i7-930 2.80GHz OC @ 4.22GHz (211x20/v1.392)
Prolimatech Mega Shadow Deluxe Edition
Gigabyte X58A-UD7
Corsair Dominator-GT 6GB 1600MHz Triple Channel (7-7-7-20/v1.65)
2 x Western Digital Black 1TB - 64MB Cache (RAID0 Mode)
XFX ATI Radeon HD 5970 2GB Black Edition OC @ (940/1250/v1.287)
XFX 850 Watt Black Edition

It just so happens I own all the games you benchmarked too! This thread is perfect and has made my day.

Thanks again!

The people trolling this guy need to GTFO the forums entirely imo.

He comes to a site called Overclockers which sells enthusiast hardware, joins the forums, heads to the PC games section to make a thread of his enthusiast setup and how it performs in games and the herp-a-derp 'gaming on a budget' PC gang drop a ******* over it?

A genuine concern of 'Hey no Physx?' sure, It's relevant to what the guys doing. But just all the other crap is just a highlight of people who have picked the wrong forums to join and are trying to make this place into some kind of inadequate-male version of mums.net. So again, GTFO.

Nice benchmarks, quite liked the Mafia 2 game features one on your youtube channel. So SLi 480s inc for the Nvidia side of the benchmarks? :)

Don't think it has anything to do with money, considering PC gaming relatively isn't an expensive hobby in the tall list of financial luxuries.

It's more to the point that there's 66,000 members, yet there isn't 66,000 individual benchmark threads like this. Why? Because there's no practical need other than the author of the thread:

a) being extremely giddy about the fact they can play games at high frame-rates

b) wants everyone to know about a)

Neither you nor I can tell people to get off this forum, so don't bother. It's about as practical and realistic as this entire thread.

Yeah i mean a thread like this is almost as bad as say putting the details of your pc in every single post you make in ever section of the forum, what kind of weirdo would do that eh ? ;)

Why do you think anyone will care in the slightest what your benchmarks are?
Not everyone is a rude bumhole like yourself, i care because im buying a whole new machine sometime before christmas and im interested to see what sort of real world frame rates you can get not just lines on a graph on some random review site.

OP has 11 posts (at time of writing) every post is either a video or comment regrading a video of his set up. Fair enough!

If he is so pleased with his rig and the "overclock" he has achieved why not comment on the endless "help me to overclock my i7/HD5870" threads?

Fact is he joined the OcUK forums to wave his peen.

Hmmm, do you want to start counting 'the weirdos'? Unfortunately my signature has nothing to do with, nor do I claim it has anything to do with superior benchmarks/hardware. What I can tell you about it is

  • Its been as my sig ever since I signed up to OcUK
  • I don't lie about it
  • I don't claim it to be amazing, poor or average - its simply fact
  • In all honesty I don't really know what else to put there on this forum

It's purely there for the same reason people on a motoring forum mite display their car spec etc.

Anway, well done with your post and all that. It was a grand read and waste of my time :) <--- Me smiling at you!

On these forums? Noooo, what do you mean? :p

80% of the forum consists of little jealous no life trolls with nothing worth showing for themselves so the revel in ability to troll anonymously. Just ignore them.

Keep any benchmarks coming GamersZone. Been thinking of nabbing a 5970 myself once every 5970 owner seems happy about the drivers.

+1

Well his benchmarks do make me go wet slightly down bellow but im kinda glad i sold my 5870 and went back to a old £40 gtx 8800 which runs most games fine at about 60fps average.

So the basis of your argument is for something to be a viable pursuit of someone's time, all other people have to partake? So if 1/66,000 people want to become a Doctor say, that isn't 'practical and realistic'? Purely down to the fact the vast majority of other people have no desire or ability to do so?

But since you want applications of his time and effort; straight away to those people sitting on midrange hardware who get sluggish performance on low-medium settings in their favourite game, this is what top end hardware can achieve. Maybe you don't even have a PC but want to find out about whats required and what the games are like? couldn't go far wrong if you stumbled upon his vids could you? Even for those people who have similar high end hardware but want something to compare to? have at his vids!

Why should benchmarking be purely within the realms of some people who write for technology sites? His hobby is clearly gaming and the high end hardware that accompanies it, doesn't seem such a leap that he would want to share that in some way with others, especially in the PC section of forum of an hardware enthusiast site. So I stand by the people GTFO'ing on how they've reacted to it.
