Somewhere, in a field in cheshire... alright!
Hello,

Can anyone offer advice on what would the best memory to go with the parts below please?

Intel Core i7 950 3.06GHz (Bloomfield) (Socket LGA1366) - Retail

Asus P6X58D-E Intel X58 (Socket 1366) DDR3 Motherboard

Also would a Corsair HX620 watt PSU be sufficient to power it all along with an ATI 5870?

cooler for the CPU, some tall ram sticks such as ocz reaper can get in the way.

no problems with the geil black dragon ram, and its cheaper, and nice low timings.

CPU, I used the Thermalright ultra with a Sharkoon strapped to it, it covered part of the first slot, but being the UD5 you use the 2nd slot for only 3 modules.

Out of interest how much difference performance wise is there over memory costing £125 and memory costing £200?

nothing much until you start extreme overclocking, are you on about 2000mhz stuff? because the default memory clock speed is only 1333mhz, so even the 1600mhz stuff allows plenty of headroom.

Would a 400 watt PSU be sufficient to run a Core2, Asus Mobo, 3GB Ram?

If the Corsair 620watt is ok for the proposed I7 setup I'd either need to buy a cheap PSU or use the 400watt I've got spare.
