With Overclockers.co.uk ever expanding and with the customer base doing likewise, has OcUK ever thought about expanding their premises? Whilst I know they have only recently moved into a new storage facility it would be great to see them expand into a second storage warehouse/outlet in the south somewhere.

I understand that they are based up north but it would be good to see a second warehouse in the south that is more accessible to people down here. I know they delivery but I'd love to go to the OcUK HQ but the 3hr drive doesn't really appeal to me, I suppose if I wanted something enough then I would! It was just a passing thought.

I was also thinking about a chain of high street stores but I suppose that would take away some of the 'internet exclusivity' that there is with OcUK. It might also mean that the target market would change from just high quality products to a suitable range for all price grades, not saying that they don't now but I would expect if they were to do so they would introduce more lower quality products to accommodate. I also took into account that there would be higher costs with a high street store for the rent/purchase of the outlet space and then there would have to be an as adequate sales team positioned there.

What are you thoughts?

I would certainly be in favour, as a shop I could visit would be great. Have no idea if its a viable business plan for them, but its something I'd appreciate.

Definitely would like to see a warehouse down south, maybe along the M4 corridor.

The idea of high street stores is a good one, but I think OcUK would be better off staying web only since high street retail is a totally different business to online. There is more areas in which OcUK would need to focus in, for example you'll need even more customer service, more staffing etc not to mention the advertising and pricing of their products. There's obviously more to that since I'm not an expert in retail :)

A warehouse in Bristol would be perfect, just saying! ^_^

I doubt they would make any extra profit from having a second store, and would most likely come at a loss, especially in today's climate.

Don't see why it wouldn't work. I'd like to see something along the lines of that other internet/warehouse retailer that appears to sell technical products for vauxhall novas but actually sells computers...

Not bothered, having premises I suppose pushes the prices up. In all the time I've ever been buying and building PC's I've never felt the need to go in store anywhere and look at the parts in a box.

Yeah my thoughts exactly Locke that's why I thought about it and was like well retailing on the highstreet would be a total different deal and as I already mentioned there would be a lot to think about like target market etc.

But yeah obviously Bristol would be an ideal location for a 2nd warehouse as it's basically the central hub for the southwest.

Wonder if OcUK have thought about this before and if so has it been disregarded and why?

I don't think it would be worth it. For what is an online shop, why would they need more than one location in the country other than for storage?

Also I reckon that high street stores would be pointless. Nobody goes into town to buy a £300 graphics card :p

The only thing I can think of would be that a second shop wouldnt bring them a particularly large increase in business, I would love to be able to nip down to a shop and pick up the bits I need on the day, however I still order online even though it means I have to wait. I suspect that there are quite a few of us like me, so its a question of whether the increase in business would generate enough extra revenue to cover all the associated costs and aggrivation of running a second premises.

Pointless idea. It's not like they have any problems delivering in the south of England or most other places in Europe.

Retail stores would be a complete failure too.

I'm not in favour of a new premises in the (extreme) south (east) as I'd end up spending too much impulse money.

No point; the majority of their sales come from the online store.

It would just be a waste of money IMO. And I'm a southerner.
