Because I am just like you in the way that I'm incredibility indecisive when it comes to cars. I know from personal experience that few things can help you make a decision than a few "hard hitting" reality checks that you are being levelled with right now.
My advice would be to pull your head out of the sand and realize that we're not trying to annoy you. We are only trying to help based on the information you have provided.
What information have I provided?
I've said I want I want a DC2 and want to spend £3.5k, I've said that I know exactly what kind of condition the car will be in for the money I want to spend.
What more is there to add? Nothing you've said is "hard hitting", nor are they "reality checks", you aren't trying to help me at all, you are ignoring what I'm telling you, and instead telling me how much money I have to spend. Sorry, but last time I checked, I can see my bank balance, and you cannot

- You will struggle to get a DC2 that is not a complete dog for your budget.
- Factoring resale values for an old Honda is so miserly it is comical.
- Not being able to justify an extra £1,500 for a car that you claim to really want is a little bit pathetic

No, I have a set amount of money I wish to spend - spending 43% more to buy a car that isn't necessarily any better, and is going to be more expensive in the long run (however insignificant) isn't something I want to do. The irony here is, if it was the other way around, Motors would be telling me how stupid I am to up my budget by 43% for a car that isn't any better.
I don't really need two fast cars, but after going over it for long enough, I've established that there really isn't a great deal of money to save by changing the Focus - which I explained several pages back. (Something which you told me you/OcUK have been telling me for a long time - apparently)
People change their minds, and situations change, too, which is another factor.
Like I said earlier, I didn't know being indecisive was such a big deal.

For £3500 you will. It's unlikely the £3500 Teg market is awash with tatty looking rusty Tegs which are mechanically awesome and thus suitable for your needs, is it? It's the sediment at the bottom of the pond. This is never a good place to buy a car, even less when the car is 10-15 years old.
