In 2003, I had my old 306 parked outside of an ex's parents house when I came out to find some miscreant had wrenched off the colour coded diesel cap causing a chip on the paintwork. I was quite livid to say the least.

I reported it to Northumbria Police and as there was no scope for CSI, house to house or CCTV I thought no more about it.

7 years later and this morning, I received a letter from them saying that the person responsible was in custody and had admitted to offences including screwing my car over.

While I will get no recompense, it is quite satisfying that a DC with a bit of foresight had the motivation to still investigate old crimes with a view to getting them detected.

I still hope the perpetrator's next dump is a hedgehog but that is my personal opinion.

:D

In 2008, I had a phone call from the Met that they have found my wallet complete with Cash and credit cards and would I like to pick it up.

I had lost said wallet in 1995.

In 2002 I had my Ford Mondeo stolen and the Police rang me to say it's been spotted in Meir.
My wife takes me up and I'm looking at the damage and notice a piece of paper on the floor.
The scrote had dropped a letter on the floor with his name & address and with his court appearances on.
I decided to take the law into my own hands because adding another stolen vehicle to his tally would do nothing.
(I'm not going to say what I did).

Was it a stern finger wagging about the evils of crime or a complete and utter pezzling with a size 10 Doc Marten ?

Second thoughts, I don't want to know. ;)

Charles Bronson-esque 1970's vigilante hunt and destroy misson....
