Idiots who leave messages on windscreens

If agreed beforehand to allow someone else to use a spot sure no worries, but if you just let people take your spots they will take it for granted and then when you need it it will be taken.

100% this. Happened to me all the time when I moved into this property, I let it slide for a while and then had to put my foot down - was sick of being boxed in/coming home from work to find my space taken with no-where else to park.

The same happened to me in our under ground car pack. Funny thing is its a private car park for the owners of the flat and each space is owned by someone.

After paying over 25k for a couple of parking spaces I will take a dump on my parking spaces if I want

I wholeheartedly agree. I've paid for my space, it came labelled up with my flat number and I've got the deeds to prove it.

I'll be away a couple of nights next week, have already arranged with my mate upstairs that his Mrs can use my space. Better that someone who appreciates it gets the benefit than the McFly reject next door with stupid hair who keeps stealing other people's spaces. His usual excuses - "there was no room on the road", or "the post office locked their car park". Yeah right.

Last time he nicked mine I had a word with the next door neighbour he helped me box him in. :D

I agree with the OP, as most people have said, they are your bays.

Where I park at work the car park is broken into sections. Each business has their own alloted bays and residence in the area have the top floor. We (i.e. people at work) get told off and are not allowed at all to park in a residential bay.

I start work early and it really annoys me when I come in to find residence have moved their cars and parked in the bays downstairs as it saves them time in the morning instead of having to get down from the roof!

So I come in, and because it's early, most of them have not left for work, so I have to drive around for a bay. It clearly shows the bays are for the business yet they just don't seem to care. Either that or they all can't read. It's not like they don't have their own bays; they are just lazy.

Sorry for the rambling! But I can see where the OP is coming from in a way.

I have left notes on cars before, they use to park outside my house which was a one way and people used to park facing the wrong way ! the note normally read " Nice parking ********, its one way " or along those lines, seemed to work

Why not leave your own note.

so either you realised you were being a retard or
you were joking first time round also :p.

tad harsh, I added the wink for the sack of GDers who have had charisma bypasses, its been a while but it seems nothing much has changed

oh sorry here you go, these are my real feelings in pictoral format!

:D:D:D:D

Someone parked in my space a couple of times, its a pain because there is no street parking as the whole area is permit holders only (i dont have one) so I blocked him in for 3 or 4 days with my van:eek:

I bow to your superior sarcasm skills. However in my defence, I don't know you, and wouldn't have been surprised if your initial reply had been genuine in terms of the average GD poster.

...
Am I wrong ...
Yes, definitely.

Did you by any chance see how Roger Federer made a return with a brilliant between-the-legs shot at the US Open today? I think that you should practice that . . . perhaps with a cricket bat; it would save society a great deal of inconvenience and embarrassment.

You had a "one-way house"

sorry one way road

Our next door neighbours left a note on my mates car saying something on the lines of "thanks for parking in front of our drive, we could not get out last night" They have a small drive but dont even have a car so they were just being dicks.

I agree with the OP. If you leave a space for people to randomly park in then they'll assume the next time that it's empty that it's ok to park there. My parents neighbours have about 5 cars/vans and only ever have one in the drive so they take up a visitors bay plus a huge amount of space on the road. No-one stopped them when they all moved in (new estate) so now they think they deserve to park where they want.

Maybe they're really fat? :p

Anyway, I'd do the same. If its clearly labelled with your house number, they should be doing the courteous thing and coming and asking you if you'd mind if they used it.

Fair enough the OP making the choice to park in his two places at once it is after all his choice and his parking spaces.

What makes me laugh is the rant at the person who left a msg on your car, YOU should put your self in his /her shoes,

He/She comes along and sees your car parked like that, laughs to themselves about the way it's parked and they just happen to be one of those people who goes a little bit further than your average person ie: they left a msg letting you know how they felt about it .. Amused ?

He / She didn't know that you'd done it on purpose to stop some one using your other parking space , how would they know that ? All they know is you've parked in an unorthodox way and they felt like letting you know ..

i have left a note when thoughtless ****s block my driveway, why the hell wouldnt I they are lucky I dont give them a mouthfull as well I mean who the **** thinks its ok to block someones drive way and then **** off

Sounds like it's something you've thought of trying, I suggest you give it a go instead as you are obviously so keen on the idea. Post the results on YouTube maybe?

What i've done is no different to how i'd have parked if I had two parking spaces on a driveway, I have done nothing wrong, I have not taken up spaces from other people nor have I parked anywhere I am not supposed to.

I have, and I still wouldn't have done the same thing to them. If someone else has parked across two of their spaces then it's no business of mine to question how their cars are parked or to try to be a smart-ass about it.

You could argue they should put themselves in my shoes and consider why it's parked like it is instead of assuming I can't park a car.

Send them a message back:

Re: parking in front of your drive
You do not have a car.

Through their mailbox.

How well are the ''private'' spots marked ? Any chance of a pic, if they are really marked as yours I'd just put one of those retracting locks on them. Usually the habit around here is a sign at the spots with the reg plate the of the owners it belongs to.
