glasgows getting a bit tonto again it seems

Ach it's just a bit of roughhousing.

What constitutes proper East End, never managed to nail the definition down - I always called Dennistoun East End :p

Because you don't get such acts in movies and dramas? Oh wait........you do.

It was as much an idle musing as a statement on the situation because the idea of an Amish gang warfare amused me for a few seconds. However since you're posing the question - just because you do get such actions in films or dramas then that proves a causal link? You may want to back that horse up slightly before it tumbles over the cliff of logical fallacy.

Lol at the Saxon comments bit more up Market guy that had the John bobbit was driving a new shape s4 assailants were in x5s

And indiscrimiminant violence is rife only the other week I watched a man get his face opened up with a gingy bottle just because he was deemed to look at someone the wrong way quite how you look at someone the wrong way whenyour facing away from them I don't

To mr it's east of Glasgow cross north of the Clyde and east/south of the m80

I didn't explain my point very well. I was meaning that there are many gangs in Glasgow, many more than most other cities. A lot of the violence is gang on gang violence which the general public wouldn't often see, as a general rule. There wouldn't be many gang wars on Bath Street for example. They are more out of the way.
Of course, Glasgow does have a massive problem with street violence, especially with knife crime, against the general public and that can't be downplayed as it is a massive problem. Though, in my personal experience, I feel a lot safer in Glasgow than I felt in Aberdeen. I also saw a lot more indiscriminate crime on the streets of Aberdeen than I've witnessed in Glasgow.

I'd say it's East of High Street, north of the Clyde and bordered to the North by the M80. Royston would be East, Springburn would not. I said Dennistoun was 'fake' East-End because it isn't renowned for the violence and what not (at least The Drives aren't) like the places further along. I try not to cross the train tracks at Cumbernauld Road as a general rule. That's when it gets properly scary!

As for why you'd do it with a power drill, it's the sort of viciousness which sends a message - for some criminals now it seems to be how to stand out, by the greater levels of depravity that they can go to.

Its not just the viciousness per se; more the fact that they can carry the tools for 'legitamate' reasons, as opposed having 12 baseball bats.... and twelve mits & ball etc.

But the brutal aspect is just the same, drill and saw at people. Heads, arms and legs, knees etc.

Anyone else thinking this ?

All this Glasgow bashing is pretty unfair. Most of the serious crime is gang related and the petty stuff is idiot neds. No different from most other cities and definitely not as bad as London.

I grew up in Possilpark and had friends in Royston, Milton and Sighthill. I never had any problems in those areas regardless of the time of day (or night). My first job (Council Joiner) was based in Maryhill and Possilpark and in four years, the van was only broken into once. My second job (Social Work) involved working in the East End (Garthamlock, Riddrie, Carntyne, Ruchazie and Easterhouse) and again, never a problem. My current job has seen me work in every area of Glassgow at one time or another and the abuse from the neds was few and far between.

Yes, you will get the idiots and the mindless bigots but it doesn't happen very often.

I think it's fast becoming the rape capital of Europe too but just let's say that none of the assailants has been described as having white skin. I think the BNP will be on a recruiting campaign soon. I hope my fellow Glaswegains will run them straight back out of town.
