The Police Will Do Nowt ...... Maybe.

Imho doing this is no better than what he did, sure he was a **** but you shouldn't have taken law into your hands. Regardless of who it is done to vandalism is still a crime and just as bad, if not worse than theft. At least with theft you don't ruin property it just moves from person to person, I can understand why people steal but vandalism is pointless waste.

Yeah I know.
Slap my arse and call me a bad boy.
I felt good after and that's all that matters.

BS - 'Don't ruin property'.
You ought to see what he'd done to my car to thieve stuff out of it.
When burglars thieve out of houses do you think they just open up a door with a key?
You're probably thinking you shouldn't have said that.

when i was arrested some 10 years ago my solicitor told me what others who had been arrested with me had said in their interviews, and i knew the names of all the witnesses.

doubt times have changed much

Some are spot on and play a fair game but if I did what I have seen some of them do I would likely be in the dock.

I guess I was thinking of opportunists. But they don't do it for ''ruining property'', unlike what you did.
I don't agree with an eye for an eye. If everybody did that, it would mean only more problems.

No-one investigated it and did some clever 'cold-case' crime solving!

When someone is nicked and going in front of court sometimes they want to make a clean break when they get out ...

Therefore they ask for other crimes to be 'taken into consideration' during the trial. They don't want to be arrested again once out and don't want to think of the police as 'looking for them' etc. after they've done their time.

This means a slightly longer sentence, but that once that sentence is over, they can't be arrested/tried for any crime 'that was taken into consideration' as they have already 'served their time'.
So effectively they give themselves a bit of a clean-slate, not wanted for anything by the cops, and therefore without having to look over their shoulders for police as they start their 'crime-free' life.

Saw a documentary where a car thief admitted to 230 cars stolen (!!) - the reason - he wanted to start afresh without risking being arrested in the future for some ancient car stealing when potentially he's in a proper job (meaning he'd probably get sacked), or married in front of his kids (meaning at least a blazing row - probably worse), or something.

I had an aerial half inched from the Feekmobile many years ago when it was parked outside the local bowling alley.

six or seven years later, I had a letter from the local law saying some scrote had copped for it as a TIC.

Whether that scrote actually did lift it or whether they just threw him a list and suggested that putting his hand up for them would make things easier, I do not know.

The cynic inside me always thought that perhaps it would just help their clean up figures if someone admitted a bunch of old offences.

In 2008, I had a phone call from the Met that they have found my wallet complete with Cash and credit cards and would I like to pick it up.

I had lost said wallet in 1995.

That's pretty amazing.

There is still hope for my old wallet.

I fail to see why anyone would admit to anything, especially if they didn't do it?

What is the advantage to TIC's?

Do you not have the option to press charges for it? Not that it's worth it I suppose.

I had the bike that was stolen from me about a year ago finally return to me last week :)

For some reason, this popped into my head the other day. That's great news mate :)

What he didnt tell you was that the money was no longer legal tender... that would be my luck in any case!

Did they fingerprint the car at the time? Probably the youth has had his prints taken for whatever reason probably another crime and these have come up on file.

18 years ago I heard a window being put through in the middle of the night. Sure enough, there was a couple of lads breaking into my car. By the time I'd flung a pair of jeans on and ran downstairs they were off up the road with it.

Rang the police immediately and within 5 minutes I had a call back saying they'd pulled my car over and got three lads in custody. So not all doom and gloom.
