Tell me about the LeonCupra R

Another person on the forums with an LCR *cheer* :)

Lovely car, should have got the grey though like mine, no pics to hand but its totally standard anyhow as have never been sure how long I was going to keep it, been about 2 years now.

Never had any problems touch wood, apart from replacing the back wiper a ton as its crap. Although I am going to need a new set of front discs and pads in a few months and forgot how expensive they are :(

Nice buy though :)

How much are front discs and pads for them?

Why not buy some decent aftermarket discs, sounds like they would be a lot cheaper.

Do these have a habit of chewing front tyres. My mates goes through fronts in 7k miles on the inside edge of the tyre

I would imagine so especially if its driven hard allot ... My mates 270bhp Mk1 Focus RS eats tyres like you wouldn't believe  and this is a similar type of car imo

The problem is the uneven wear rather than wear rate.

Yep, the inside edge of the tyre is ultimately decimated far before the rest of the tyre. No amount of alignment or geometry setup (other than one that would destroy the handling) could solve it either, its just how they are.

I get the same tyre usage on my LCR. Always worn on the inside with the fronts not lasting too long.

Bloody good car though :)

yup tyres arent exactley cheap either 225.40.18's as standard ;(

everything about this car is designed to hurt the wallet :)

as for brake prices (genuine seat parts) if anyone wants to genuine and are up my neck of the woods let me know and i'll get you a set on my account :)

discs
retail £131.72 each
trade £105.37

pads-
retail £174.55
trade £139.64

I managed to get discs for £85 each and the pads for £40 a set.
Not too bad :)

The retail prices are high though

That's great, except it compares to OE VW brake discs, which the LCR doesn't have.

I'm not paying SEATs pricing for Brembo branded discs and pads, when I can (and use) EBC branded pads and grooved discs for less than 1/3rd of the cost.

I certainly haven't experienced any problems with the braking performance.

YOUR GOING TO DIE !!!!!!!!!!!!111one!!!!!!!!11!!!!!!!1

dont say i didnt warn you when your ebc disc shatters and you career into a ditch and 23mph ;(

only kidding, my experience of ebc has been ok in the past(pad compound dependant) it really is only fair to compare genuine to factors copy of genuine not parts such as ebc etc which would technically be classed as a performance replacement.

badger5 are always a good place to look for discs/pads/various go faster bits too

£40 pads!

I tried a set od £40 pads from fleaBay (Mintex) and they were total ****

had a similar experience with the vectra, cheap factors pads on(only thing i could get on a sunday) they lasted all of 2 days before getting binned for a set of vauxhall pads.

the stock lcr discs and pads are a very nice setup and tbh i cant say i've ever found them lacking even with some spirited use

Yeah, Mintex pads for the LCR suck the ultimate one.

I've had good experience with Brembo and EBC (red & yellow) pads, disliked Ferodo and Mintex pads.

Thats not to bad for the discs, but rather pricey for the pads. owch.

I sold mine last year to fund my house purchase wish I hadn't sold it for £6100 and it had FSH just had a cam belt and had done 48k :( rather annoyed to see the second hand price of these has picked up since I sold mine.

Only problem i had in mine was passenger side door seal letting water in like many mentioned and anti roll bar links i think it was causing a clunking noise had to be replaced.
