Does anyone else do this? Play a game, complete it and then go and sell it on only to then after about a year decide – hmmm quite fancy playing that and go hunt down a second hand or budget copy of the game?

I just can’t believe I do this sometimes… Just about to do this with uncharted. Crazy.

But then, I used to be a bit nutty with Playstation, I would buy a machine, play it for six months solid, sell it then three or four months later buy another.. Reason I guess I have kept my PS3 and reason I won’t sell my now unused at the moment 360…

Anyone do this, buy a game, sell it on when completed only to then pick it back up again at a later date?

Yeah done it before.

Usually I buy games on release for full price, finish them, sell them on while they are still worth something.

Then later down the line when they've dropped to bargain basement prices i'll re-buy them if I enjoyed the game and wanted to replay it.

Two games I have done this with.

Dead Rising and Test Drive Unlimited, had them both when I had my first 360 then bought them again when I got my Elite. Dead Rising so pleased I did it, TDU, pretty much pointless haven't played it properly for ages.

Done this quite a lot, with consoles as well. I remember buying the 360 not too long after it came out, playing it for a few months, then selling it on. Around 3 months ago, bought an elite (for half the price I bought my original pro :p) and now even have the new S. Can't see me selling this one though, everyone I know now has a 360, whereas the first time round It was a bit lonely on the xbox lol.

Games that spring to mind are Heavy Rain, bought it when it came out, only gave it 30 mins play then sold it. Recently picked it up again and feel I need to give it another go. I've also done the same with infamous, but that's because I liked it so much the first time. I do it all the time with older PC games, theme hospital, rollercoaster tycoon, heroes of might and magic etc. I just feel like having a go at the older games, take me back to my younger gaming days :D I think this is mainly because I lose them more than sell them on, or else are in the big box style and won't work with anything other than running windows 98 :p

lol good to hear I'm not alone with this crazy idea... I'm also about to go hunting down in the next month so Resident Evil 5 but the GOLD edition as I'm thinking of getting PS3 move...

I'm just so bad... I also went through four Playstations and two xbox 360's. I sold my first 360 to fund a PS3, I lost interest in the PS3 in favour of a PC then wanted to play Forza 3 and bought a 360 for just that one game...

Funny thing is, I've given that game to my missus old boy and have zero, yep zero games for my 360... It now sits at the back of the TV gathering dust..

Should I sell it? Maybe not, as I no doubt something will come along or I fancy playing Fozra 3 again...

Thankfully came to my senses with selling the PS3, stopped myself at the last minute...

Decided to now never sell a console on once purchased, until the console is at the end of its life...

Another game I wished I'd not sold on the PS3 - Batman Arkham... Why I sold that, I don't know. Such an excellent game. Hmmm whilst hunting down uncharted, might see if I can find that cheap as well... lol I'm so crazy at times.

A few come to mind Valkyria Chronicles being most recent bought it sold it then bought it again (keeping it this time :) )

and

Bioshock 2 although not strictly the same thing I bought the standard edition played & completed it, sold it, then I bought it again but the CE version.

I played through Fallout 3 at release and still sold it for c. £30.
I then waited until the GOTY edition came out. Bought and it and played all the DLC then sold this again cheap.

I sold Divinity 2 when I bought my PS3 as I had a lot of games to play but I'm tempted to buy this again soon too.

OP, you're not alone.

i buy, and keep all my games... i still have 100+ ps1 games (and some non-released rare ones too, perks of having someone work at sony when the PS1 was in development :))

This.

I always get a hankering to play old games. I know as soon as I sell something, I'll want to play it.

Especially 5 years down the line or so when it'll be harder to get hold of.

Hmmm well just finished off Red Dead Redemption, and this time I’m not selling up. Enough is enough with this, I’m only going to sell on a game that I feel is total rubbish and will get next to no more of my time playing…

Its true, you do seem to get that hankering to re-play a classic game a few years down the line…..

Going to hunt through the second hand market to find some of the ones I now miss, anyhow trading games up is bad practice… Its starting to become that second hand games in stores over run the new releases.. Heck even online games stores are selling traded games…

This must be hurting sales, as if someone buys a game, then trades it up and someone else buys it, then its only getting royalties to the publisher and developer once, not twice…

And I’m only buying second hand if I’ve previously owned the game, to cut the cost down on reclaiming games I wish I’d not sold off..

My crazy console owning tactics are going to be ended.. After all, I never sell on a PC game..!!

Fallout 3, Oblivion, Dead Space and Gran Turismo 3 are the ones that come to mind for me! I dont sell/trade in games anymore though so with my crazy logic im saving money :p

Done it once with Burnout (sold it then bought it after the expansion packs caught my eye) but I made a fiver by doing so.

I did this recently was with Assassins Creed 2. I sold it after I had finished it because I got £25 for it and because I saw that the complete (DLC) version was on pre-order. Oh I sold my PSP 1000 fat for £180:eek: with a few games when I saw that the slim 2000 had been announced. I then bought one of these for £70 with a game 2nd hand:p. I had 2 or 3 PS1s and 3 or 4 gameboys. Games were more expensive in the PS1 days so it would get to the point that your console + games was worth quite a bit of money.

Only done once to Fallout 3. Finished it on the PC, sold it, wanted to play it again it and got it on the PS3.

Other half does all the time though. Like sold Fifa 10 when World Cup came out, to then regret it and then buy it again (getting the one that we traded in back!) :p
