Hey guys, about to place my order, just wanted to check it over.

compu.jpg

Also i'm getting 2x 1gb Asus GTX 460's but OCUK don't seem to sell these.

First off what do you guys think?

Second what about the power supply, will it be ok with this build?

Wtf I ordered one of those 1GB Asus' 2 days ago and it said 10+ in stock?!?!

Don't know what that is about mate.

Just so you know that power supply will handle it just fine and the asus gtx 460s are awesome :D

Hey LateX'Dog,

that looks like a "very" costly £££ system my friend . . . if you can really afford it fair enough but you must be a really high end power user!

Hard disks/SSD?

I hope you get your moneys worth from that technology investment . . . £66.00 on CPU cooling just seems crazy to me hehe! . . . £176 on a chassis wow! :p

As long as you actually need all that then cool but if your building a system for average usage I would suggest your burning money like its going out of fashion!

Thanks for the feedback.

I'm a high end user so a lot of the parts are chosen for a specific purpose i.e. the case for its air cooling abilities.

I already have a 1tb HDD that i can salvage from my old system, so no problem on that front.

What do you think about the PSU?

Hi looks very like spec of system i have just ordered.

50cm Silverstone CP05 SATAII HotSwap X 2
Logitech RX250 Black Optical Mouse,
Intel Core i7 950 Bloomfield 45nm,
750W Corsair CMPSU-750HXUK, SLi, AT
Logitech Deluxe 250 Wired Keyboard,
Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64
Prolimatech Megahalems Black Anodis
Samsung Blu-Ray Combo Player 8x BD-
Silverstone Fortress FT02R-WRI, Bla
NZXT CB-24P 24Pin Black Braid sleev
NZXT CB-8P 8 Pin Black Braid sleeve
Ozone Ground Level S Gaming Mouse P
120mm Akasa Apache Black Ultra Sile
EVGA 132-GT-E768-EK, Intel X58, S13
1GB MSI GTX 460 Cyclone, 3600MHz GD X 2
Crucial c300 SSD 64 Gb
6 GB Geil Black Dragon 1600 tri channel kit

From all the research i have done the PSU is more than enough for sytem as using online psu calculators you will be at very top end of a 650w psu at worst case so went for 750 to have some headroom.

Also im going for a black look in the red interior thats why i went for evga mobo and msi vid cards and also they are ment to be one of the quitest 460s around.

Also why not go for the i7 950 as with price drop its only a few pounds more.

Note not all items ordered from ocuk due to price or items not being stocked.

@ LateX'Dog

It may be worth looking at memory with low profile heat spreaders, something like Kingston hyperX or Corsair XMS3.

Am sure there are problems with that cooler and the memory you have speced (fan overhanging memory slots).

Damn thank you for letting me know, just checked and the cooler doesnt fit with the memory.

Now i need to find a new cooler.

Any suggestions?

the Geil black dragon ram is low profile, as I was told last night by peeps on this forum.

@Big Wayne The FT02 case is one of the best available for starters, superb airflow and very quiet, not a lot of money imo you get what you pay for im afraid

The cooler is a brilliant piece of kit and is one of the most important things when OC especially using a red hot i7 chip, its pointless spending £20-30 on a cooler that wont do the job properly.

@OP The setup you have listed looks very very good to me,enjoy

You wont find a better cooler for the money, the Prolimatech Megahalems is most definitely one of the best heatsinks around

Im currently using the Prolimatech Megahalems and im using the ram you have listed it fits fine using a 6GB Triple Ram setup.

I can't see it myself but my comments were aimed at the O.P . . .

I'm fully aware of what you need for an overclocked i7 but I'm wondering if LateX'Dog is actually spending his money "wisely" or just rushing to join the i7 @ 4GHz club? :D

Live & learn . . .

I'm a high end user
