dog urinating outside our drive

It reminds me of a drunken argument I had with my mates:

Why do we people get a fine if we pee in public or even in nature (who the **** cares if someone goes deep into the bushes and pees against a tree somewhere out of sight, at least 20 yards from a footpath or whatever), yet dogs can pee everywhere including on peoples cars and the owners get away with it ?

Start fining dog owners when the dogs pee over the property of another person... I would generally not care if they peed into the dirt in my garden ( or even the pavement, meh it'll be gone in no time) but I would get highly annoyed if they peed over my car with the owner allowing it or not punishing ( or pulling it away) the dog for it.

A dog peed over your property? Oh, the humanity!

Grow up OP. It's what dogs do.

well thats all well and good aslong as its your own dog peeing over your property, the problems start when its your property and someone elses dog.

take some responsibility for your pets, i dont care what their nature is you shouldnt inflict it on others

Dogs **** where other dogs ****. They mark their territory wherever. I fail to see what the big deal is all about. You lot are like a whingey old man who gets up early just so he can have more time in the day to find useless things to get riled about.

Dogs don't see the world in the same way we do. You see walls, gates and driveways. The dog sees it marked out in scent. Often when dogs mark their scent it takes seconds; how is an owner supposed to stop that? I used to drag my dog away sometimes but he'd end up just ****ing right across the wall instead of one place. It's what dogs do, so stop whinging and find something more worthwhile to get a sodding bee in your bonnet over, like the inherent hypocrisy of the world. It has nothing to do with 'irresponsible dog owners' and everything to do with a dog, being a dog.

It really is so bloody trivial. Get over yourselves.

I haven't read most of the replies because the few I did read seemed the typical childish responses.

We had a similar situation with a neighbour a few doors along who walked the dog out of the street and paused outside our house to let it wee on a miniature conifer tree we had, it killed it within a few months.

My advice is to go outside when they're walking the dog by and be 'around'. See if they pull it on when you're outside, make it obvious you're watching them and go from there.

oh no dog urine how working class, i say what!

Grow some balls and confront the owner, or get someone with a spine, the wife, to do it.

My neighbours dog pees over my car (usually the wheels), my front door and my wheelie bin. It has on occasions peeded over the car doors.

It's bloomin annoyinng..... because it's the same height that my kids push the door open.

In fact I now tell my kids to wash their hands every time they push our front door open (as there is usually dog pee over our bin or porch). And I spend 10 minutes of my week cleaning dog ^^^^ off my car and front door just so that my family don't unknowingly get their hands covered in my neighbours dog ^^^^.

Most people who own dogs now think it's OK to let them ^^^^ all over everything - even though there are laws stopping them doing a dump everywhere - please explain what the difference is someone ? If he owns the dog, and takes it for a walk - he should be decent enough to not let if do it's business anywhere near a house that children might be playing.

Am I being unreasonable ?

How about shutting the garden gates so random dogs can't wander in and **** on everything ?

wait by the water meter with this stuff, and when the said dog arrives, spray it in his face.

and if it ever comes to court, just say you thought it was going to attack you.

Electric fence wrapped around the meter. It'll only pee on it once.

Not attached to the mains, but a car battery, the type used to keep cows from grazing too far.
