After the cat being put in the bin, we have puppies being thrown in a river

It really is pathetic how some people react to such insignificant things.
I obviously don't condone throwing day old puppies into a river but they would have died very quickly and better that way than bringing them up in a world that doesn't want them.
This video is quite tame compared to other videos I've seen from that area.
I like how 4chan think they are the defenders of the Earth but if they stepped into that area with the type of mentality of the people and what they've put up with over the years they would poo their pants.
These are people that either went along with genocide or were on the receiving end, so throwing puppies into a river isn't exactly going to register on their empathy scale.

That is all well and good but completely irrelevant.

Pffff:
PETA has offered a reward of two thousand dollars for information about the identity of the girl.

Director of the movie "Transformers", Michael Bay, joined those who want to find a girl from Bugojno. Bay offered a $ 50,000 reward for information leading to arrest and prosecute the girls and her brother, who was filming a cruel act, "writes Daily Mail.

There are better things 52k dollars could have gone to .

I think some of you need to experience real life a bit more.
Watching at least 10 relatives slowly die from cancer and seeing a mate lying on the road with his head hanging off certainly puts things into perspective than getting upset over some unmoralistic Bosnian girl throwing unwanted puppies into a cold river to meet a quick death.
If you want to see some really upsetting things you should walk a day in my shoes at the hospital.
Watching that video registered about 3% of my 'Give a toss' scale.

I can assure you I have experienced life quite well. I do not care about what you see in your shoes in hospital what so ever. That registers nothing on my percent scale.

That's great news! Err...

I can usually figure out what the correct translation is from the stuff automatic translation produces, but that bit has beaten me.

It's pretty close to what Google says, I think. "Unofficial sources say that the girl's parents' initials are MP and MP; we learn that all actions taken against the girl will be taken against her parents." (In essence, that her parents will be culpable too—I assume she's a minor.)

I agree, how can you think more about puppies than people suffering . That is indeed very messed up.

I think you and dmpoole are missing the point here, people dislike and dont condone either. However, when a video is posted of someone enjoying killing small puppies, people will obviously be upset about it.

If you posted a video of someone smiling and beheading small children, people would be equally outraged. However that sort of material can't be posted on here anyway.

Saying 'you should see my mate who had his head removed by this that and the other' bears zero relevance to this debate and shouldn't come into it. Something like that is not really going to provoke an emotional response from people, as they haven't seen what you have seen, and its not their mate either.

Strangely enough:rolleyes: I have also experienced and witnessed many tragic things in life. Just like yourself I have been in the company of three family members terminal with cancer, wishing to spend their remaining days on this earth at home surrounded by their loved ones instead of a hospital ward. Those times were the hardiest if not one of the hardiest things I have ever had to help out with. You're just going to have to except that many people including myself have strong feelings to animal cruelty, especially animals that cant defend themselves!

I don't think turning this into a "I've witnessed more horrific things than you" thread is a good idea chaps. Let's keep it on topic.

I don't see the puppy incident as real animal cruelty because they are obviously unwanted and they would meet a quick and some would say painless death.
It isn't as though they've been sticking pins in them or swinging them around by their tails.
Filming it is strange but seems to be a common occurrence nowadays.

HOWEVER the throwing the dog off a bridge and torturing cows did register around 95% on my 'give a toss' scale and I would gladly be the person getting revenge for the innocent.

I'm personally shocked that you've allowed a family forum to link to these videos but hey ho.

Well lets just agree to disagree then.

Some would be wrong then because drowning is not painless, if you wanted a humane death you would give them poison like DXM cough syrup or cyanide, not drown them. This incident was clearly done for fun to create suffering, it's hardly some mercy killing as you are trying to portray.

By the way, the state of animal rights in Bosnia is generally bad and most people's attitudes, especially in rural places like Bugojno, are pretty far from those of Britain in 2010. Not that that makes them savages, of course: they're just living in a poor country, with no animal shelters, whose vets tend to be concerned with livestock rather than pets. Neutering is necessarily uncommon, so—in cold terms—what else can they really do with a litter like that? It's less cruel than leaving them to starve to death.

To be blunt, progressive attitudes to animal rights are a luxury most rural Bosnians can't really afford.
