:(

swapped out my old 8800GTS for my new 460 which arrived today, machine booted up fine for about 30-45 seconds then all of a sudden it bursts into flames.. amazingly ive now plugged in my 8800 and the pc still works fine

any ideas? it was installed correctly, both power connections were connected and the i made sure the fan was freely spinning before putting the side panel back on.

Must have been a faulty card. Airflow isn't going to cause it to burst into flames :D

psu = corsair 750watt
case = thermaltake shark, fan at front and back

this happened when the side panel was still off though :(

PSU is very good and air flow seems fine.

must have been a faulty card from the beginning. could have been a power surge though (Might want to check your mains plug) Its very unlikely that it could be your mains plug but I would check anyway.

pc is connected through a surge adoptor thing, it didnt switch the electric off when it burst into flames, just the pc.

Silly question but was the card at room temp when you installed it?

reason i ask is when left in a cold wherhouse you can get condensation under the coolers
