Thinking of buying a Wii

Nothing wrong with the Wii at all, plenty of very good exclusives well worth owning one if you don't already, don't let others put you off simply becasue they don't like the Wii. All the systems still have exlcusives so all worth purchasing.

DON'T bother getting a Wii just save your money.

Why? it has some great games such as Mario Bros, Galaxy, Metroid, Mario kart, Zelda, Resi evil and the virtual console is decent for older games. Iplayer feature is pretty handy too.

At £130 its hardly a waste of money, i suppose everyone should just buy a 360 + live + MW2?

Graphics don't make a game decent.

I don't understand the anti Wii sentiments. The games may not appeal to everyone, but the quality is obvious to see. The asking price is a baragin for first party Nintendo games alone.

Not as worthless as the Wii. It'll be even more redundant when Microsoft and Sony follow up with their bandwagon gimmicks :)

You ever notice that there are no Wii threads on the forum, except for this one? That's a rhetorical question by the way.

I should add that your pitiful response could also be construed as equally worthless, perhaps even worse as it did not even attempt a stab at humour :)

I agree with this. Once Sony and Microsoft bring out their versions of the gimmicky controls the Wii will have no purpose whatsoever. It will be a sub HD, last gen graphics version of Playstation Move, what's more is that Move will probably be more precise.

I agree with this too..... Wii has only ever had the gimmicks of the Wiimote. the games, sure they might be some decent titles... But its a sub HD box for £130... You can get an xbox for not much more if all you want to do is play games and not prance around with the gimmicks..

If however you want it all, I think the PS3 with its move and HD gaming and PSN store mini games etc will provide more bang per buck if you ask me..

Granted, there are some Wii games that will never see the light on other consoles, guess you need to sum if it they are worth spending out on the Wii kit to play them...

I just know, within my family all the Wii systems I've seen purchased, after a few months they just sit there and gather dust... Once that gimmick wears off, its just a Game Cube if you do still play a few games on it..

Least a PS3 can be a blu ray player and a media player if you bore of the games or the move gimmick wears off.. sure a Wii can be a BBC iplayer, but so can a PS3..

Move should be better - it's a copy released 4 years later. And while i'll be picking up Move (and likely Kinect) at release, it won't bring Mario, Metroid or Zelda to the PS3. However, i'm hoping Move and Kinect do bring some fun party games to the PS3 and 360, as neither console gets a look in when friends come round.

Xbox and ps3 don't have Mario or Zelda games though.
I have a 360 and a wii and the wii still gets used now and then by the mrs (she loves house of the dead overkill). Plus as a gamer I get to play metroid, mario galaxy, new super mario bros, and some old n64 games from the virtual console.

Yes, I do use the 360 a lot more but I ceertainly don't see the Wii as being wasted money. Also, Mario galaxy 1&2, New super mario bros and the Metroid games ARE most definitely worth buying a console for :D

As I said, you need to work out if the cost of buying the kit to play these games is worthwhile for you, and to have yet another box under your TV in the living room etc...

For some it will be, for others it won't. I guess the key comment from me is... don't buy a Wii just for the Wiimote gimmick. you'll bore of it before long, and you'll be left with a sub HD games console. A game cube to be exact..

If on the other hand you want to play zelda and mario, and aren't bothered about the gimmicks, then go for it....

It will also have games that are fun to play, and last time I checked that was important. Rather than the stack of very pretty but utterly boring games I've not bothered to finish for the 360 (I'm looking at you Halo 3, Gears of War....etc)

I bought a Wii a few months back for £130 and had most of the worry's that people have in this thread. However, Im glad I did as some of the games are better than you get on any console. Yes loads of games for the Wii are terrible, but the AAA titles outshine those of the PS3 and 360.

I am also suprised how many people still play Mario Kart online... this game is welded to my DVD drive.

I've got a wii and I'm not ashamed of it :), although I did win mine so it cost me nothing :D

I'd add madworld to the list, good game and can be had for £3.95 new which is ridiculously cheap

argos have dead space extraction for £7.99 at the mo as well btw

I like playing on the Wii, good when you have some people over playing Super Mario, or Mario Kart :) Have a PC aswell which I enjoy, no need to flame one why not just have both if you enjoy them?

No I said the wii's is easier there is a difference in the two statements.
I dunno, not used the PS3 one, but it's an utter pain in the arse trying to navigate to a specific spot in a video on the Wii, since the slightest movement of the remote sends you about 5 minutes either side.
