I posted the specs of my newbuild here http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18180508&highlight=freddie

I was hoping for a lot better from the Coolit ECO, but got some wierd readings, If I tightened the screws too much, I cot 0° C for the CPU temp, backing them off a half a touch and revooting got me -44°C !!!!, backing off another half a turn returned me to idle readings of 44-46°C, This was with two Akasa Apache fans in push-pull, and the upper 230mm fan removed to accomodate the Coolit Radiator. I pulled the Cool-it, as with any sort of load temps rapidly climbed to60°C ++. Right now I am running the stock Intel fan and getting idle temps of around 42-44°C.
My problem is that Here in Thailand ambient temps in my computer room are around 85-88° F, My case is under the desk with a large wall mounted cooling fan blowing towards it, but no real airflow upwards and to the rear due to the desk. With the HAF 932 in 'standard' mode, ie 230mm fan at front/side/top blowing in and 140mm fan at rear as exhaust I think I might just be sucking hot air back in at the top (which has about 6" clearance with the underside of the desk, maybe I should reverse the top 230mm fan and blow with that as well. Other than that, I will be ordering a Prolimatemps super mega air cooler, just to try to reduce the temps into the 30's, If it doesnt work I guess my only option is a higher spec water cooler, I imagine that no-one on this forum has to put up with such high ambient temps, and yes, I could stick an aircon in my computer room, but I dont really want to. So any suggestions as to best higher end watercooling, Swiftech/koolance ??

regards

swiftechs kits are fantastic performers, my last 2 kits have been from them and they have ran faultlessly. they also use top shelf compenents, althouigh you do pay a little premium from them over making your own kit up. If you have the time to carefully read up on the ins and outs of W/Cing then make your own kit up out of bits, otherwise i'd recommend a ready made kit that is known to work well together with instruction to put it all together :)

Garnhamr, I do so love totally brainless spontaneous replies, They dont help. but they do keep the annoyance level down. Feel free to post lighthearted and jockular comments to a ll my posts, and I will be sure to remember you when I am cleaning my Model 500 SW revolver

88F is around 31C so even with a good watercooling setup, and a way of dumping heat out of your case you aren't going to drop the temps that low.

I've had bad experiences with CoolIt in the past, the glue was so strong on the backplate it wrecked a motherboard removing it - which needed to be done because the unit packed in within 1-2 months.

Swiftech and Koolance both have good reputations, doubt you will go wrong with either.

Freddie so you know I7's run hot its that simple, even my idle temps are in the 30's and thats on custom water, the only time they ever go into the 20's is at night and when i have my window wide open. This is with UK ambients.

As i type this now, my idle temps are mid 30's low 40's (about 5% load on cpu), so its totally normal.

Also you are fine upto 80-85c loaded on the cores.

No Problem garnhamr, I would have done the same, cheers mate.
Thanks bifday2k, Yes I know they run Hot, just was expecting a little bit from the ECO, and didnt get it, I am gonna try the Super Mega, just because if it doesnt work it will go in the wife's new desktop, If I dont see 5° drop, I will start to look seriously at a strong WC or even a P/C solution

Try the silverarrow or the DH-14 coolers, they are the best air coolers on the market, but are huge, i would go with either of them over the Super mega any day.

how much space do you have where the desk/computer are ?

any chance you can pull the pc out from under the desk and run it, or maybe pull the desk away from the wall to give a gap to allow the air to escape.

have you tried changing the fans on the side/top, so they help remove air from the case and see if that helps, because if ive read it right you have 3 200mm fans pushing air in and only a 140mm exhausting ?
