Do you think that 2 cats that live in the same house, and have done since kittens are able to communicate or let the other know how its feeling ?
Reason i ask is, Tia is on her last legs and is going to the vets in the morning to see if there is anything else he can do, but polly ( hissy fit cat ) still tries to attack her.
Surely after living with eachother for 13+ years she is able to see / tell that Tia is not a well cat ?
what do you think ?

Dominant cat is sensing weakness and asserting its authority. Cats are animals. they don't do "nice".

When one of my cats was unwell the other one paid more attention to him than usual, licking and cleaning him :)

Maybe your cat is just a bully? lol

^^ Same here. My neighbour had two cats. One had a broken leg and could move as much. The other cat just snuggled up to the broken cat and licked him, kissed him etc.

I think your cat is a bully! :p

oh yeah Polly is know as a beeeeatch !!
but i really thought she might change being as Tia is ill
Do you think she will know Tia is ill though ?

That happened with ours.

Maybe it's upset and trying to end it quickly for her. :p

Good luck with Tia's visit to the vets. :)

My Cat knows when me or my girlfriend are ill and becomes all sweet and cuddly, your cat just sounds mean.

Yeah, my cat's a butthole to my wife's cat. They hate each other, and I could quite imagine being in the same situation as the OP one day. Some cats get on, some don't.

she is evil, all black fluffy cat, attacks us on the stairs, attacks moses the Chihuahua, wont jusmp up you have to pick her up for her food. Pure cow of a cat lol
3 years ago she managed to get out the front door and went missing for 4 days, we thought she had gone for ever. A bloke up hte road saw one of the leaflets we posted and spotted her in his garden. Knock at the door, bloke up the road with polly going wild in his arms scratching him n stuff, is this your cat ? yes sorry !
wouldnt change her for the world, but very very strange cat
@ simman, thanks mate, but its not looking good for old tia

stayed or visited ?
she hasnt stayed but went last week, and got some tablets

So cats rely on smell heavily and are not accustomed to new smells all of a sudden. When we used to take one of ours to the vet she used to come back and the other would not be happy at all - this is because she smelled very different and brought back a lot of different animal scents.

Would take a few days for all to settle down......

Did it all start after the vet visit?

My friends cats would do the same to her doberman when he was quite ill, sit next to him and pay much more attention than normal, definately think your cats don't get along!

When I took my two too the vet last month to get neutered when they got home Mimi (the girl) was really shaky the rest of the day. Completely out of it as her operation was a lot more serious.

Dexter literally was out of the cat box and spent the rest of his day going mental and attacking/meowing at pretty much everything. He is usually a really friendly cat and they only ever play fight. Yet when Mimi just wanted to sleep in the cat box he was trying to get in there to attack her.

I guess it must have been an effect of the medication or something. I think in general though cats can communicate with each other. It's done more through body language/smell than sound though. Having said that Dexter is constantly meowing/chirping and it usually attracts someones attention.

Cats aren't humans. Cats do not have a conciousness like us, and probably don't have an awareness of themselves either.
