STEAM Star Wars Daily Deal - Knights of the old Republic - £1.75!!!!

So is this the best SW game ever? I've only ever played 1 game

Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy

Dunno if ill like it

It's very much like Mass Effect, only it's Star Wars and there's no cover system. I always played the battles in a turn-based style but you can do it pseudo realtime also.

its not the same as Jedi Academy, its an RPG rather than an Action type game.

its more like Mass Effect (mass effect was basically the sequal to this)
but its a million times better

Does anyone know if this runs stably under Win7 yet?
What about on ATI drivers? If so, which ones?
I already own this (as a few of you do) but I'm tempted to buy it again just because it is so good (I own Mass Effect 1 & 2 twice too). I don't need it at the minute, but in the future it may be handy.
Does anyone know if the widescreen mod works with the Steam version?

Strange feeling, I've got a retail copy of KOTOR in front of me and still have an impossible itch to purchase it off Steam. Damn you Valve!

I cant get this to Run.. I just get the intro makers bits and then it goes back to desktop. I have to go to task manager to stop the game. I,m on win 7 64bit.....??

Fixed it just needed to restart steam.... This looks quite old now..... lol

I've never heard of Star Wars or any such games before. Is this worth £1.75? It sounds like it must be absolute crap for that much. Does it have something to do with shiny tinkly stars fighting each other in the sky?

Has to be one of the best RPGs ever made, even if you're not a Star Wars fan. Very good story which makes or breaks an RPG IMO. The usual high quality offering from Bioware. Certainly one of my all time favourite games. If you enjoyed Mass Effect, chances are you will like this.

There are a number of fixes for Win 7 issues. I've played it all the way through on a Win 7 64-bit system recently and most of the cutscene crashes could be got around by dropping the graphics settings temporarily then back up again once the cutscene finished. There is a mss32.dll replacement available which irons out crash issues for most folks. Easy to find with a Google search. Could never get the WS hacks to work though but no big deal.

Plenty of mods around for this one too. My favourite was the classic stormtrooper skin for the Sith troopers.

But for £1.75 what are you all waiting for!?

Ok this could be an amazing steal and I'm tempted to grab it but are there any other lucasarts games which MIGHT be on offer this week too that I should save my money for?

:P

It's very apparent that you've never played Star Wars... That bullet shield won't be doing too well against my lightsaber :D

Even at that price I wont buy it, already have the retail...

Mainly because I've completed the game about 20 times already :D

I think this was the game that really put bioware on the map. Having watched the star wars movies through been wanting to play this again so i have bought it :)

I think the 2nd one was a bit of a let down in terms of story, but i liked the fact you could train a apprentice.

Not sure how to play it through though the light side or dark side :P see how i feel when i start playing it again :)
