Golf V5 beyond the fail thread

i like mk4 golfs i would also consider a bora though (same thing) toledo would also be a possibility

maybe i should have said a mk4 platform v5 :)

Ok, so you don't care to much what it's in, you just want a VAG V5?

Strange!

You'll get the most car for your £'s if you go down the Toledo route.

The funny thing is that a Golf v5 would be a better car than many that are owned on this forum, but yet it's regarded here as completely *****.
Gotta love this place :)

Try reading your failthread again. People have said it's a pointless car, not that it's *****, and quite honestly it is a pointless car within the Golf range. If you feel that the exhaust note overrides all the many shortcomings of the car then fine, go and buy one, but please don't get upset that most other people don't agree.

Gotta love people that are so blinkered they can't accept others arguments or view points.

Get yourself a Fiat Coupe 20VT - 5 cylinder noise, quicker than any Golf bar the R32 and still returns 30mpg.

I fail to see what that's got to do with anything.

X can be better than Y in my opinion, just because I can’t afford either is neither here nor there. I can still judge and my opinion is still valid, if you choose to ignore it fair enough. I think it’s a little rude and slightly ignorant to publically dismiss someone's views because they drive a shed.

I didn't dismiss peoples opinions because the drive a shed, I'm actually refering to others not the owners of sheds.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion, no one said they aren't :)
Freedom of choice is a good thing, hence wh people buy the better looking 306 over a xsara when the xsara is the better choice in terms of value for money :)

I'm not buying one lol
Even if I was buying a golf, the others are not applicable for my circumstances, not sure about the fiat though, but then the are uglier than a Toledo lol

Only the op has expressed a want to buy :p

It appeared from what you said that that's what you were saying. "People can't say X rubbish when they drive a shed".

There is many cars that I think are pointless that cost far more than my all worldly possessions. I’m still entitled to my view.

Nah, I meant that there are lots of worse cars on this forum that don't get slated as much as this car, that's all :)

Anyway, this thread isn't about me', the op is thinking about purchasing, so change his mind :p

Sorry, they do have one very big plus point for them in the 2nd hand market; Irrationally higher levels of depreciation compared to the hatchback version (read Golf).

:)

At the time it was a lot of car for the money - the sound is immense but I wouldn't say the car is 'sporty', maybe the 170hp version is but I'm sure the suspension still isn't.

Either way I paid above normal service costs as the v5 is quite rare and had to pay extra for labour :(

Sounds like any other car with a chavvy exhaust on it

Remus are OEM suppliers and make very high quality exhausts

OP if you want one go for it, who cares what the toffs think, they are great cars, cheap, serious amount of car for the money. I'm not a fan personally but I can see why people like them

Fitting a cheap LOUD e-bay exhaust to a 1.0 - 1.2 Corsa = chav and many many lolz, fitting an expensive exhaust to a car with the aim of achieving a performance increase = not chav.

Someone near me has a green 1.0 corsa with blue WRC rally mudflaps and what must be a straight through exhaust because its loud as anything, finally caught him driving down one of my favorite roads the other day, regardless of speed his exhaust note was threatening to shake the windows out of my car, so i was forced to totally and comprehensively show him just how slow and silly his car is.

Needless to say watching him become a very small dot in my rearview mirror regardless of how much his exhaust note increased made me laugh all the way to work.

Not seeing a whole lot of Golf V5 non-love from people in bangers myself, personally? Mind you, even if there was, are they not entitled to an opinion because they cannot afford a better car?
