Fanboy

Amongst my friends we never had this!

I had a Megadrive and my mate had a SNES and we both had hours of fun round each others house playing on the other console, not once did we even think to start claiming one was best etc.

I had a SNES and not once looked at a Megadrive. I could only afford one system so I stuck with the SNES - I was happy enough with it, did at times want to play a bit of sonic though...

I then had a PS1 and I just didn't bother with the Saturn. The PS1 had so many titles released, the Sony machine took all my time.. And, erm money. I never remember arguing out which was the better system. Even though I knew a 'which is better' war did start off.

I got the PS2 and when the xbox was released I slagged the xbox off something awful. Not too smart TBH. I hated the xbox controller at the time, and I never, to this day touched my xbox all that much. Hmmm so it can happen, and it was rather silly.

Today, I own both a PS3 and an xbox360 and I see no reason to not get one game on a system because the other system has a game similiar - there is no need for that..

I think the one system I owned that I didn't like to hear bad mouthed was the dreamcast, as that was a shame. It needed support, and techincally that was a fab machine with some very good games.. Doesn't mean I didn't play the PS2 at the time just as much..

It was my hatred towards the xbox at the time that was, looking back really silly. I can't explain why I hated that machine so much. I purchased it, played Halo and tried a few games but I never got on with it... Weird eh?

I think a lot of the hatred towards the xbox was purely because it was a microsoft product and it was/is cool to slate them, at least that would be my perception of it.

Obviously you're different, owning and not playing/liking is just a bit weird, maybe it was the controller.

/edit maybe you're just weird :p

I really didn't want to say it... But yes it was the whole x thing. I always thought of direct X as something for a PC and being very pro PC at the time, I felt MS started to meddle into something they should leave alone..

I was, and I'm still to this day very much a PC and Sony Playstation Gamer. PC and PS2 was a perfect combo, and I still feel PC and PS3 is again a perfect match...

the xbox was the one machine I just didn't get into all that much. I reckon I only got the machine as I remember hearing that MS lost money on machines, and made it on software titles.... Was way back in the early days.. I remember giving the machine away in the end. *red faced*

Oh wasn't the controller. I use a 360 controller and they're pretty much the same as the first xbox controlller. I was just being wierd at the time. I like the 360, forza 3 is a really good game, and I've enjoyed PGR4 and COD on the 360.. Just that whole xbox scene at the start.

Golden Post. Pretty much sums up my thoughts.

I enjoy watching Fanboys defend their platforms honour though. It's hilarious!

This. Someone buys something they have to justify their purchase. Its maybe just a recent thing but i dont remember anyone arguing when i was younger about their snes being better than someones mega drive or anything like that.

Don't see why you can't be a fan of Mario AND Sonic. They were, and are awesome characters from some all time classic games.

I'm certainly a fan of both.

It's not a recent thing at all, this has been happening since the ZX Spectrum / Commodore 64 days! It was even worse when the ST and Amiga were doing the rounds.

I don't remember saying my amiga was better than anybody's ST, mind you I don't remember saying much about anything at the time, too busy getting SPEAK to swear for me :D

A few of my friends had Amiga's and a few had ST's - there was always someone trying to defend their system or say theirs was better for X reason :p

Bloody kids!

Yes, there was a very big Amiga vs ST war back in the day. ST faded, Amiga took the lead in the eyes of many and then PC VGA went SVGA and commodore failed to really do anything of much worth other then a failed games console and milked the Amiga 1200 and that was that.. lol was there, lived though it, loved my Amiga but promptly moved to a PC as soon as Doom landed and, the rest was pretty much history - well for the Amiga anyhow.

All I know is that, the Amiga had F1GP and that was enough for me.

Yeah I was quietly jealous of my Amiga owning friends :( I loved my ST but always kinda wished I had an Amiga :p

We all know ST owners were musicians secretly wanting to play a few games, whereas Amiga owners were gamers using mod tracker to create music but secretly wanted an ST.

The smart user though, had both. Haven't we danced this waltz before??

xbox360 and joint PS3 ownership.. lol

...So you cannot like a steak as much as you like ice cream, they are too different!
Well, you can't!! Ice cream is clearly superior!!

No wait, steak is. Obviously.

Or was that ice-cream. Cold and so many flavours!! Mmmmm...

Scrub that... steak. Red meaty goodness.

OK, you win. I must hate them both.

Ah, you were a ST owner... that explains a lot. ;)

Hmm I have lived through the snes/megadrive battle, saturn/ps1/n64 battle, dreamcast/ps2 battle, ps2/xbox/gamecube battle, xbox 360/ps3 battle.

No matter how old you are, how much you earn, what you do for a living you will always have one console you love more. At high school I saw lads acutally fighting over which game/console was better.
Not now, back when you could only get one you had to make the right choice and defend the console to the hilt.
How come you have not grown out of this then?

I loved both Mario and Sonic as a kid. I had a NES and a gamegear and used to swap them with a friend for her megadrive, I've never cared about which console I play games on.
