nothing happening

yeah, i know, the last time i did this i had some issues to, not from ocuk right enough, but since i now live in the @rse end of knowhere i was hoping to avoid it, more for the hassle and time of getting replacements!

thanks anyway

From your analysis it does appear to suggest its the mobo. rma time.

it is a bummer and hassle getting parts replaced (i'm waiting for some replacement ram), but least theres a light at the end of the tunnel man get it sent back asap and be patient. your computer will be working properly in no time.

I assume you realise for dual channel with 1 pair you need to use slots 1 and 3, not 1 and 2? some boards don't like using 1,2,3 for instance with 3 sticks unless you either disable dual channel mode entirely first in the BIOS or swap to flex mode if the board supports it (not reccomended). For normal operation with 2 sticks of RAM do not use slots 1 and 2, if your using 4 sticks and slot 2 still isn't working then its RMA time.

so not like the manual for the mobo says in slots 1&2 (same coloured slots) for dual channel?
Slot 2 didn't work in any config or number of sticks, also changed the bios to run as single and dual channel with still the same issue in slot2, hopefully the people at ocuk will get to the bottom of this one!

Hmm looks like a weird setup on that board - not used many AMD boards tho. Even the manual gives conflicting advice. I'm used to intel setups where dual channel is always 1 and 3.

yeah, i thought that, my current set up is slot 1&3 but on the quick setup guide with the mobo it does say to pair up the same coloured slots, although to be fair i did try absolutely every combo i could think up!

I am pleased that I was not the only one who thought it was a bit weird. That was why I posted the actual page out of the user manual.

A bios flash might be worth a punt. But if you do flash your bios do not do so in windows please.

ok, so the board is now coming back to me, and after digging around on the gigabyte website, i fear that i may have the same issue as this guy

is this a common problem, and is there anything i can do to test it myself before RMA another piece of my order for no real reason!?
