Evening all,

I've been looking a netbook recently, purely to browse the net, check emails and had settled on either a Dell 1012, or an ASUS 1001HA, when I stumbled across this possible gem, the MEDION AKOYA E1210, for £129, all in.

Has anyone had any experience with one at all?

Specs seem decent enough, with just the battery letting it down:

Usually I would say Medion laptops are rubbish, but at that price you cant really go wrong, even if you get a year out of it, it would still be a good deal, specs seem good

Got a DELL 1012 in the end! 250gig HDD, HD screen upgrade (higher res), WIN 7, 6 cell battery, all for £177 all in from DELL direct:D

My girlfriend has a medion laptop (not the one you're looking at). The build quality is far from perfect, but I don't think it's significantly worse than most brands out there. I'm pretty sure its someone else's model rebadged though.

Google thinks the akoya e1210 is an msi wind with msi scribbled out: Link in which case that's a good buy indeed.

I believe it is in fact a MSI Wind U100, same as an Advent version. Think I'll be happier with my DELL though, as and when it gets dispatched.

Got my new netbook yesterday (the PoV one), and wow! It's an amazing bit of kit. Does everything I wanted it to do, with the bonus of playing games. Had a go at Half Life, Dawn of War, and Peggle so far (dug out my old Steam account).

The trackpad is excellent, being built into the body of the chassis, keyboard is nice and responsive, screen is amazingly bright (even at just 60%), it had 2 gig of ram installed too! Best £130 I've spent in ages:D
