***** Playstation Move Thread *****

Got back with mine today, got a copy of Sports Champions.

Having quite a bit of fun, the movement it picks up is awesome, spent ten minutes laughing at the characters arm in table tennis when I spun my wrist around :P

Only thing I dont like is the amount of room you need. I have very limited space in my room, and when I had a game with my missus, I lost count of the amount of times we both went out of camera range. So to those who have said you don't need much room, you need at 6ft, and the camera needs to be at a decent height, even when tilted it seems to get inaccurate movements...might just be me though.

Just flaked and bought another motion controller and Sports Champions. I know you don't need 2 controllers but means the missus can play! Expensive month!

On paper, you are right, it's all in Move's favour..

But it's simple really, the accessible/fun aspect of Wii Sports for example doesn't exist in any Move title at the moment, and the use of the 'waggle' in Wii games is more polished in a lot of cases, less clumsiness, which I'm sure will improve in subsequent games on Move.

Isn't the Wii 4 odd years old? Aren't you being just a touch harsh on Sony for not having a Wii-like game that you enjoy 3 days after launch?

I would disagree that the Wii is more polished, it's not as precise. What you see as "clumsiness" from move is because you've got so used to the imprecision of the Wii - all the little things you can get away with on Wii, you can't on the Move. I'm guessing when you've spent some real time with Move you'll find the Wii horribly imprecise.

I have been looking at links of PlayStation move but i am not sure if i would like it :L

A local high street music store had demo kits up and running so as you can try before buying.

Its really good BTW, me and missus have decided that this is just as good as the Wii, gf said if PS3 gets anything like Wii Fit - Wii is being sold to make less clutter under the TV...

the controllers are much more comfortable in my hand, and the response is amazing. It was a snap to set up as well. Just tried Move Heavy Rain demo - awesome. It REALLY is Wii with HD graphics.. About time.. lol

Picked up Sports Champ & tried Tiger Woods today.

Tiger Woods is playable but isn't great compared to Sports Champ.

Really fancy trying R.U.S.E., as the reviews have been positive compared to using a controller and I enjoyed the demo.

I've spent most of the evening thinking I might return this tomorrow, but I've just found an update for High Velocity Bowling which makes it work with this controller and makes me no longer regret buying either lol.

Still have more games to try so will report back again later.

On thing that is rubbish is that if you have a big wallmounted TV the USB cable is never going to reach to the top of the TV and I don't know if it would work with an extension.

I tried the Heavy Rain demo with it and really think it needs the navigation controller too (which I have coming in the post) as trying to use a dual shock at the same time as a move controller is just too clunky.

All in all though I am quite impressed and has certainly given my PS3 a new lease of life. Now I am trying to find a decent clip for the PS Eye that with widen to 5.5" as my tv is quite deep.

*snip*

From a little reading, it would seem that a repeater USB 2.0 compliant extension cable should do the trick.

I have just tried an old one I have and that didn't work. Whether it it because it was not USB 2.0 compliant, I don't know.

What PS Eye mount is that?

Is it any good?

I think you can get it from both the leading gaming retailers

Here's a pic of how it works

The weight of the cable would pull the cam off alone the mount stops that and keeps it steady. If you physically knocked it there's still a good chance you would knock it off the TV still. It's been fine for me so far.

Edited

I for got to mention that the mount comes with an extension usb cable for the Playstation 3 Eye too.

I've just tried mine and it's fine. It's just a bog standard silver 2m extension I believe.

Got the Camera on top of the TV now and it seems better positioned. Well I say on top of the TV, it's on top of my centre speaker with is carefully balanced on the top of the TV lol

Good, always nice to hear that a purchase is worthwhile, nothing worse then buying something to think - nah waste of money.

As for USB ext, eye works perfectly fine with a USB extension. I've tried it, as my TV bracket had one included for the eye toy.

same bracket I got. This bracket is REALLY needed, and should be in the move starter kit. the eye toy would never balance on the top of a standard plasma or LCD. As mentioned the cable would pull it off by itself.

mounting the camera on the top of a TV gives the camera a better angle and it works better. Agreed knocking it on the bracket would make it fall off, but TBH you shouldn't be that close to the TV anyhow.....
