Thinking of buying some good outdoor equipment and going to scotland for a year. so what would you reccomend and what do i need ? heres what ive got so far.

tent
good outdoor clothes
wire for snare and possibly a gun
cooking equipment to cook food and boil water
swiss knife
map and compass
boots
book about what and what not to eat
backpack
sleeping bag
fishing rod/device.

anything else ? any suggestions on what tent, airgun, knife, compass, bag etc. ?

Why scotland?

Infact before you answer me that, tell me, have you just finished polishing off a bottle of scottiish whisskey whilst watching ray mears? although an air gun, maybe sas are you tough enough?

A snare? An airgun? What exactly do you expect to hunt?

If you want a survival experience brush up on some spanish and hit south america or something.

boiling water to drink will get tedious, maybe some iodine purifying tablets.

Possibly because we have less restrictive outdoor codes that allow camping virtually anywhere.

This would be well cool, but is completely unfeasble.

It's not unfeasible at all. Providing he doesn't need to work, can get himself to Scotland in the first place and has money to feed himself. There are plenty of "proper" campsites which offer shower/wash facilities if he's feeling stinky and he can cook his own food.

i guess he chose scotland because your allowed to camp anywhere.

but OP should just get an easyjet flight to europe and do it. in the summer

If you have no commitments and fancy something potentially very different, then go for it :)

if this is purely drunken post-pub talk then boo-urns to you :(
