Had my kitten a couple of weeks now and got through the first bag of cat litter. It's called sophisticat and it's crap. Doesn't mask any smells and is quite powdery, resulting in the cat trying to wipe it off her paws and getting it everywhere. We used our neigbours cat litter when we first got her for a couple of days and it was a lot
better.

I know there is a lot of people with cats on here so which cat litter do you use?

P.s needs to be available in the shops as we've ran out today.

We have always used PETTEX Premium Grey Cat Litter for cats. We did try the wood stuff but that just turns to sawdust and gets everywhere.

Catsan. Works really well. There's always going to be a bit of a mess, get one of those handheld vacuum cleaners and you can just suck it up every now and then.

How often do you people replace the litter? I do it twice a week, but empty the poo out at least daily.

I use cheapo 'Thomas' cat litter as it is really really good value from my local Booker cash and carry. You can find it in shops though. I used to use Catsan but I find this Thomas stuff just as good and it's so cheap I replace it every day so odours are a lot less. This is what it looks like:

The other thing I prefer to catsan is that Thomas is 'earth' coloured so when I'm hosing out the cat litter box at the end of the garden I don't end up with white cat litter granules everywhere.

I use this bad mofo:

Also, found Here!

It's on deal from website 2 for £16. Which is essentially 60L of cat litter.

I got my kittehs begging of May this year when they were 8/9 weeks old (see sig).

I went to the above store locally and it was buy one get one free at the time, so 60L for £10 which was a bargain. I've still got 1/2 my second bag left and change the litter every few days when its getting a bit unfresh.

It masks smell very well (whizz especially). Nothing can stop the stench of a cat turd but I empty turds morning and night and it's all good. I got this stuff as its what my parents have always used on their kittehs. I recommend it as it is wood/pellet based rather than gravel. The gravel I have found to be far messier and stinky.

clumping litters are very clean and much easier to maintain the non-clumping types. any urine just becomes a hard ball you can scoop out and bin (for the love of all thats holy, dont chuck it down the loo!).

I'd recommend some nappy bags or whatnot- dirty litter goes in the bag, bag goes in the outdoor bin.

the stuff i use is called classy cat and is available from zooplus.co.uk. smells like talk and a single bag lasts ****** ages because you just keep topping it off when you scoop it.

I've got a really particular cat and he doesn't get on with the clumping litter as he can smell stale **** and **** I guess. We tried it and after a couple of days he went to wee at the front door on the mat as he does if we don't change normal litter after 2 days so there was no advantage to using clumping. :(

i use wilkos own brand (not the pink one) which is the best out of all the cat litters ive tried.

clumping litter is crap imo.... cats like to dig around in the litter tray and they cant really do that when its clumping crap

Catsan works really well, coupled with odour destroying crystals you wouldnt really notice it. We've tried the wood pellets and other gravelly type cat litters and they're just not as good really.
