2011 Mustang V6

Wow OP, I bet going on holiday with you was fun for your GF.

"hang on dear, Im just feeling the interior plastics quality, reviewing the wiper stalks, and calculating our MPG to two decimal places"

THRILLING! lol

When he wants your advice on how to spend a holiday im sure he will ask.

What is the matter with you?

His observations came from just driving the car, not obsessing over the ****ing thing, if you cant see that, get glasses.

This is the motors section, so he is going to talk about the car, you see?

So, you like to calculate your fuel economy to TWO decimal places, review the wiper stalks, and feel the interior plastics also?

Maybe you would even consider some sight seeing between calculating your Average Economy, best tank-full average and your worst tank-full average ?

Perhaps you and Fox should go away together?!! lol.

Still, it gave me a laugh on such a dreary, wet day.

how is fox any sadder than you?

do you really think after driving a car for a week you wouldn't be able to comment on the majority of its faults and features?

Sure Fox's write up is more extensive than one I could be bothered to muster, but given his previous reviews and an obviously high attention to detail do you really think he spent his whole holiday stress testing a mustang.

Just driving the car on a daily basis would have exposed him to the great majority of his feedback, the other (lets say) 10-15% comes from his obsession with cars, which is something most of us here share, odd that given the title of this subforum :)

nice trolling though have an e-medal

Im going to spend my holiday stress testing some value RAM in a sever environment, got any holiday left Will, you can come and join me if you want ;)

Wow, some weird responses.

The fuel economy is to two decimel places because thats what the application I use outputs it in. All you do is enter the fuel quantity and the cars odometer and it logs it. This takes about 6 seconds per fill. I filled up about 8 times, so I probably wasted about 48 seconds gathering this data for you.

The indicator stalks etc - well you kinda feel how well they are built by.. just indicating. So I managed this by turning out of the Hertz parking lot.

The hertz deal looks great on this and will look at getting one of these booked up. DId you find it much of a struggle to get the Mustang over the 'similar', I honestly can't remember reading about that in your other thread?

The car class is 'Chrysler Sebring or Mustang Convertible or Similar' so unless you specifically book a Mustang Convertible from the 'Fun' collection there is a chance you'll get a Sebring. I simply asked if they had any Mustangs - and they gave me one.

Fox - Was the rental their standard package or did you have to tick extra boxes on the website to get the zero excess etc?

It's the standard USA package offered via Hertz.co.uk. It seems all rentals booked through Hertz from the UK include the insurances you need with zero excess as standard.

Fox did you drive around with the hood down all the time? we found it too hot and only drove around in <30mph zones where the a/c could keep the cabin coolish, we tried as long as we could fron San Diego to Las Vegas with the hood down but couldn't do it about 50 miles in had to put it up, neck and ears starting to burn.

As much as I could but yes there were long periods when we we had the roof up and the AC on because it was simply too warm for the hood. Most freeway driving was roof up because the lack of a wind deflector made the whole cabin some sort of tornado at freeway speeds.

Ok fair enough, but what about the Average Economy, best tank-full average and your worst tank-full average ?

Just seems a step too far. You should have been enjoying yourself and sausaging your GF at every given opportunity.

And the way the windows seal?! It almost seems like the holiday was secondary to the car. :)

What offer did you use to get it under £200 a week fox ?

Full price Hertz are quoting me £220 (£440 for 2 weeks) and not made any mention of insurance waivers yet.

At the time Hertz had a 15% CDP on the Hertz website. This has now gone but you can still get 10% off a Hertz rental using CDP 594427. You are supposed to pay by Mastercard for this rate, but I used it extensively in Australia on various cards.

There is also 10% off via Quidco as well - in addition to the CDP.

I had 15 days @ £422. With the 10% CDP your rate above comes down to £396, which is £360 after Quidco :)

The application just provides it all for you, automatically?

All I did was type the output into this thread.

Look, here is a screenshot from the manufacturers website:

I did thoroughly enjoy myself thanks

The roof takes so long to go up you kinda notice these things as you've nothing else to do whilst you sit there with your finger on the close button (It isnt one touch)

And yea, of course the car was part of the trip. It was an American Road Trip in an American Convertible. How can the car NOT be part of the trip?! I love cars and like most here, big road trips in 'cool' cars is my idea of fun.

Ahh, but you should be showing your GF a level of attention that means you would never notice such a thing!
