Good Old Games has shut down

Seriously! has an announcement from Devolver Digital revealing plans for Serious Sam HD Gold Edition, a four game bundle that will be released via Steam this Thursday. In addition to the HD versions of Serious Sam: First and Second Encounters, the bundle will also offer the original versions of both of these action-packed first-person shooters from Croteam. Serious Sam: The First Encounter and The Second Encounter were both released through GOG.com, so this lends some credence to speculation that tomrrow's planned statement on the uncertain state of GOG.com might be some sort of merger with Steam.

I'd say this going by whats going on , GOG isn't dead but they are changing!

The video also contained info on " GOGMIX " something else that was not on gog originally ;)

I really really really really really really really really really really really really hope that they do not shut down for good. An absolutely amazing service that the world of gaming would be poorer without.

I bet the DRM free took a bit of a beating when someone posted on Facebook links to their game collection.

But just checked now and seems to have been removed. Guy had a Fallout cartoon avatar.

I presume its a live cast of their media presentation, but its broken/full.

EDIT: its just very slow, wack in a random user name and just retry

they're talking about new site design and they seem to be dressed as monks (looks more like hoodies!) :p

Now speaking about balder gate and such, re-launch tomorrow 1pm GMT. They are crazy polish people.

EDIT 2:

Its over! That was quick.

So basically its what everyone said already. Relaunch from beta with a new site design and new titles (baldur gate + exp being the main) and something called gogmix (no idea what that is).

Their aim now is to expand their catalogue and become the #1 alternative to steam. Which tbh they are pretty much there already service wise in my opinion, with the lack of drm, ease of use plus all the goodies like proper manuals, soundtracks, high res wallpapers, maps and artwork that most other DD site forget about.

Never heard of this, was it basically a steam clone?

Slightly, it has all the old PC games that few play anymore and might be hard to get otherwise DRM free. Some of the titles have been patched to run on Windows 7 as well.
