While connected to the VPN set Steam to offline mode and restart it then you can disconnect from the VPN and just leave steam in offline mode till friday.Even after activating my game via the VPN, I still need to be connected to it to start the game. Don't have to be connected to play, but if I'm on my normal connection, it just says pre-load. Bit random. You would have thought it would activate, and that would be that.
As for the racing, I was up in 14th or so in Australia in my Lotus, pitted, and the I was back to 24th, even though the others were quite far behind me. Bit annoying.
God am I crap at racing. lol

Do you have to install the games for Windows Live crap or is it optional?
Finally finished my first race in career after many restarts, quite enjoyable but not the challenge I thought it was going to be.
Expert mode, all assists off, 20% race weekend and was able to finish second in the Virgin racing team.
I've read about Legend mode but can't see it in the options.
The pit bug is a real pain. Can be left sitting there for 12 secs as other cars you've pasted just drive by.
Had to change my strategy opposite from the rest of the field to hold position. Very rarely locked brakes and wheel spin wasn't much of an issue.
Comparing to Ferrari Academy, this is more arcade like but good fun none the less. Hopefully it will be good online but with gfwl I have further doubts.
