Hi
My setup
Mb- asus ramage 3 extreme
Cpu i7 950
Mem 6gb corsair gt @2000 mhz cl8
2 gtx 480 in sli
2 ssd in raid 0
w/c mb and cpu.

My i7 950 will do 4.3 Ghz stabil with cpu v 1.4 cpu pll 1.89 qpi/dram core 1.35 dram 1.65 rest on auto . I can not manage to work more then 4.3. Can you help me.

4.3GHz is pretty impressive, no? Maybe you hit the limit for your chip/motherboard. Not all components are created equal

LOL that is not too bad - just how much higher do you want to be able to clock the CPU?

4.6 Ghz stab. in pime 95 or cpu test in 3d vantage

Asking for a lot there. Not unacheivable but what cooling are you using?

Also you can't really cmpare Vantage CPU test to prime 95 stable.

Vantage CPU test is a few minutes, whereas prime 95 stable is usually considered to be at least 4 hours of stability.

Hell I can run my 970 at 4.7GHz for a vanateg run, it aint stable but will get me a good score.

Are you looking for stability? Or just a high clock for benching.

3D Vantage is a really hard benchmark for a CPU. On my 980X I can run 3D06 and all the others at 5.3GHz but Vantage I have to clock back to 5.1GHz to complete the run. Personally I am not that fussed by the prime stable thing. Play the games you want for two hours and if it is stable then all is good. If not then make it stable.

But hey aim high that is were the challenge is I guess.

OK what is your un-core frequency at those clocks. You might want to drop it down a bit or increase the voltage just a touch.

Some of the time it is worth pushing your PCI-e frequency up a bit to get that higher BLK. There is a potential problem for hard drive corruption mind you so be careful.

i got a 360 radiator with 3 fans and laing ddc ultra pomp. 4.3 Ghz in prime95 with 72 max temp. also my mb has a full cover w/b.
my pc can boot with 4.5 Ghz but is not stable. Only with 4.3 Ghz i cand do the 3dvantage cpu test.
i whant a 4.6Ghz just for benckmark.

i try with 1.6 v for cpu and still no luck for 4.5 Ghz

Yeah upping vcore is not going to magically make it happen. The whole process is about the relationships between a heap of settings.

23 x 200 will give you your overclock.

So drop your multi down and see if you can get your BLK (and the un-core, QPi and ram) to be stable at BLK200

Then once it is, up your multi back to 23. You will then find you might need 1.45 volts to make it happen. But while you are checking to see what your max BLK is nowhere near as much volts will be needed.

for 4.5 to be stabil. i try 1.6 v cpu 1.89 cpu pll 1.35 qpy ( and 1.4 qpi) witj 24x or 23x but sil no luck. plus my ssd fail to be reconis. by bios. after a rest all went back to normal.

1.6vcore (my godness me!) if you are using it for 24 hours then your cpu could died anytime!

I guess since the chap has clearly said he wants that particular frequency for a benchmark we can be pretty sure that it is not for 24/7 yeah :)

I think it is going to be quite a difficult task to get 4.6 even on water Vantage stable but hell it sure will be fun trying to find out if it is possible.

q6600 I have pulled out my Rampage Extreme board and i7 CPU, my water cooling kit is being leak tested right now so I will be able to play with you here on this quest for 4.6Ghz.

Lets have some fun yeah mate.

Right what I am going to be doing first is seeing what my max BLK is with this first CPU. So how I am going to go about doing that is at first only use one stick of ram. This stick will do some pretty freaky frequencies so I am comfortable that it will not be ram that is holding back my BLK. :)

Here is my test bench ready for tonight's fun. :D

Yeah well we have a few months to wait for the fat dude in red to come drink my sherry mate. Could you do me a favour and resize your image. It is sort of really big on my screen.

Okay so far I have run memtest on my ram - just to be sure that it will not be my ram settings holding me back. And all past 100% at 2133MHz. So next thing will be to see what un-core works best with the CPU. Each CPU has its own unique iMC characteristic and that my friend is the difference between a good CPU and a so so one.

Yeah the Rampage Extreme 2 is pretty close to the 3 bios.

Just change those settings that you are using and post the list back here please mate. @4.3GHz yeah.

I am busy doing the same on my side. But I am still in the testing BLK stage so my voltages are not going to help you too much I do not think. At least not now.
