Issues parking outside our house...

It amazes me that people don't seem to consider this stuff when buying houses. Knowing I require my car every single day I looked for a residence with decent access. I would never buy anywhere that meant I would struggle to get a car in and out.

I know...its the only 'issue' with the house...I mean, the house is fine, the view out back is fine, its just fields and trees.

It's just the damn front :p

"I will gladly move my car for you, I'm going to wash this chicken off my hands 1st, I will be out in a moment."

DO NOT ENTER A DEBATE, just say that, go inside, wash your hands, come out and move your car.

bugs me at home, our drive fits 4 cars on (at a push) and next door fits about 7.

The other houses have 1 car drives then have another car sticking half out. Makes getting in and out a pita.

I did, I said can you wait 5 minutes (Not neccessarily literally, she isn't from here so probably didn't get what I meant) then ill come out and move it.

All I got back was, 'No, I need you to move it now I don't have five minutes' in agrumpy manner.

And I know it was a grumpy manner because she's come round and actually apologised since and said sorry for being grumpy about it all

Indeed...They aren't blocked in at all, its just the fact you need to go forwards then possibly backwards and inch then forwards to get out.

It's because they have a Vectra basically :p

So basically, in the time it takes them to come to your house and faf about moving your car, they could essentially already be out just by going backwards a few times :p

Talk about dramatic :p

That's actually quite shocking, she seems like an all right sort of person, even if she was an arse earlier.

Yes, it's exactly that :p

If I parked in front of my garage like thay do, and the other neighbour, it'd be worse. Doesn't matter now anyway :)

Shocking? Which part? They are normally fine, the husband is fine we talk across the garden sometimes :p I've only ever had an issue with the lady. Bu never mind

I know the problem is sorted but (for me) the simple solution (going by the diagram) would be for the neighbour to reverse into that space so they simply put on a right lock and drive out when they want to leave...

Maybe I am wrong tho ??

Like they do you mean? :p Reverse in..... :p

And that google link is quite amusing actually

Bets £5 that this is a "new housing estate" built in the last 10-15 years.

People always say this, but my house is new and I can easily fit 3 cars on the drive and 2 in front of the house on the street without causing any issues at all.

Its only a 2 bed house as well!

Clearly he's referring to the houses that typically have a shared number of parking bays two deep off a shared driveway, not ALL houses built in the last 10-15 years that may or may not have their own driveways.

On a related subject though, a driveway or ample private parking that only I can use will be the first criteria for my first house. I don't care if I get less of a house or a slightly worse view, parking problems make me want to kill kittens in rage. As does living in a scummy area.

Unless the 3 houses can talk to each other and come to some sort of parking arrangement then the simple answer is that you have to move your car asap. Saying I cant move it for 5 minutes would **** me off to be honest as no one normally allow for being blocked in to travel times and if you need to be somewhere on time this would **** most people off.

Its easy looking at it from your view but take into account everyone has lifes.

Did you see his picture or read any of this thread?

He was asked to move his car basically because his neighbour is unable to drive properly.

Why are you blocking people in? I would be annoyed having to go to your door just to get out too.

Also 5 minutes to wash your hands? Do you wash them to surgeon quality or something?

i was thinking this also.

You should have said "just a moment and i will be out to move it"

i would be a bit anoyed if someone said to me "give me 5 minutes"
