Me DC5.

Hahah not quite. To cut a long story short, my boys mum is a bitch, lol. I had a EP3 at the time.

Not quite, but there's not much in it to be honest. The DC5 is a little quicker.

DC5- 1180KG- 217bhp
EP3- 1210ish -197bhp

It's not massive, it's more noticeable at higher speeds. It's more the looks and the handling.
Ill take some better pictures with my dads proper camera in the future, wanna get some in fog, fog looks ace lol.

thats the EDM EP3, the JDM has 212HP

Well my 1.8 would be faster than your 2.0 ;)

Engine size and power doesn't = faster.

er, I love DC2's but they aren't quicker than EP3's, not to 60 anyway. Different story on a track but theres not a lot in it.

Same with EP3 and DC5, there isn't a lot in it.

Indeed, who mentioned the JDM?

just had to pull you up on your figures, wonder how many people know there is a 15HP difference between the two EP3'S

and its better to compare two cars from the same market, so emission laws don't play apart.

No, its better to compare the two most readily available cars - so if you live in the UK and wish to buy either a DC5 or a Type R, it will be a UK Type R you'll see for sale, not a JDM one.

Surely you should be comparing the cars that cost similar and have similar spec (xenons/recaros/lsd/thicker anti roll bars/closer gear ratios/higher power engine)

E.g. 2001 UK EP3 is about 5 grand, 2001 JDM DC5 or EP3 just below 10.

Yes the JDM EP3 is rare in this country but comparing a car double the price is hardly fair.

Well no, because the question asked was:

'Is the DC5 quicker than my Type R?' not 'Is the DC5 quicker than an imaginary Type R I dont own' :p

That will teach me for not reading all the posts in the thread

err no..

What do you mean err no?

Are you telling me there are loads of JDM 01-06 Type R's around and not many UK ones? Seriously?

Obviously I'm aware all DC5's are JDM - the latter part referred to the Civic.

no, im saying (ignoring private sales) you go to a importer for a DC5, and the same importer your probably find a JDM EP3, a quick look online finds enough JDM EP3 to look at.

anyway my original gripe was just the figures at the top of this page, more sense to compare the two cars from the same market, so crap like worse fuel and emissions doesnt come into play.

where does it say EDM or JDM?

I guarantee he has a UK car. You'd have to be quite a Honda fan to seek out the JDM Civic - they are rare, despite what you say - and if you were that into your Hondas, you'd not neeed to ask that question.

He drives a UK car.

And 0-60 is the defining measure of faster...........:p

They also don't have an LSD and the stats are in the DC2s favour (see below). This isn't a defending what one owns response, just getting some facts across:

DC2 UK
Weight: 1140kg
Power: 187bhp
Ratio= 164.0 bhp/tonne

EP3 UK
Weight: 1210kg
power: 197bhp
Ratio= 162.8 bhp/tonne
