UFC 119: Mir vs. Cro Cop

Couture did draw with Jacare in a submission grappling match, so I'm sure he could handle Mir on the ground not sub him or anything but hang with him. OK his BJJ isn't on Mirs level but his control due to his wrestling is top notch.

Cro Cop has not delivered in the Octagon, especially after all the hype, which was deserved in my opinion. He just doesn't look the same fighter that was up there for years in Pride.

I don't think Mir is champion material either, but he'll have too much for Cro Cop, which is a real shame, as I'm a big Cro Cop fan.

Little Nog will beat Bader and Sherk winning on points against Dunham.

Dollaway v Doerksen for fight of the night.

I'm also excited to see Mark Hunt back and if Mitrione can prove us all wrong again.

Cant see Lil Nog winning tbh. He was pish poor in his last bout and i think Bader will have too much for him on the ground. Bader by decision i'm afraid (i'll probably fast forward that fight!).

Cant see it being a great card in general to be fair, but like a true fan boy i'll watch it. :)

Picks for me:

Matt Mitrione (2-0) vs Joey Beltran (12-3)

Hope Meathead gets destroyed

CB Dolloway (10-2) vs Joe Doerkson (45-12)

I'll say my most positive pick of the night - Doerkson by triangle! Dolloway is a sucker for them!

Main Card

Melvin Guillard (24-8) vs Jeremy Stephens (18-5)

Could and Should be a cracker - Guillard by TKO for me

Sean Sherk (33-4) vs Evan Dunham (11-0)

Personally think Sherk is on the slide careerwise and Dunham win via points

Matt Serra (11-6) vs Chris Lytle (29-17)

Not sure at all here but will similar to above - Serra is never going to make it back to the big time of title picture/fights but I can't see Lytle making it there either - both know that time is against them and could be a barnstormer of a fight - will pick Lytle by TKO

Antonio Rogerio Nogueira (19-3) vs Ryan Bader (11-0)

Horrible perfomance last time out from little Nog and Bader is a top quality wrestler - will take Bader by lay'n'pray/points

Frank Mir (13-5) vs Mirko Cro-Cop (28-7)

Who I want to win - Crocop - who i think will win Mir - As other have said - if it's Crocop firing on all cylinders - then he's devastating but in the UFC - he's looked extremely average. Mir knows that if he looses, he's got a huge climb back up the ladder to get in the title frame. Mir will try and take it to the ground and will win by submission. (i hope i'm wrong!!!)

Pre-Lims are on again in case you didn't know/forgot! Starting at 2am on ESPN.

Can of Monster Ripper in the fridge to ensure I'm alert for the whole event!

3 weeks tonight and I'll be sitting in the O2 arena, hopefully watching Bisping and Hardy beating Akiyama and Condit!

Prelims were pretty awesome this time around, if the main card is as good as that then we're in for a good night.

Picked 5 out of 6 on the prelims but only bet a straight up accumulator since it was only the prelims, balls, buggery balls balls.

That was one of the worst UFC's I have seen in a long time. And as much as I am a fan of Cro Crop that was freakin terrible, he just doesnt seem to wanna engage anymore.

Must admit, last nights card was a huge let down. Don't know what was up with Mirko.

In my opinion the Guilard decision, and certain the Dunham decision were both incorrect. Fair play to Lytle he went out there and put the hurt on Serra. I actually fell asleep watching Bader vs Lil Nog.

I also woke up just in time to see Cro Cop eat a Frank Mir knee... and I turned the TV off and went to bed sad.

Not a good night.

A pretty poor event, especially Cro Cop v Mir, which was awful until the knee popped up and I don't know how much more Cro Cop has left, as he's really just living on his reputation now and any top heavyweight wouldn't have much trouble beating him.

I thought Dunham won as well and Serra v Lyttle was a good fight.

Dunham was robbed, Mir and Cro Cop were stale, but glad Frank put him away, Cro Cop is a joke.

CroCop just isn't the fearless striker that he was before. All the surgery's on his knee's have taken a toll on his legs. You can see just how tentative he is to throw kicks now.

Very sad to see somebody go downhill like that.

Mir still looked hellishly slopping and has horrible standup, as soon as he fights somebody that will fire back he'll be eating canvas. He was just bumrushing and clinching.

Ok so you obviously didn't watch Mir destroy Kongo

So throwing one big hook and catching a mid tier fighter now means your standup is top level. Ok i'll note that one down.

You obviously are oblivious to the fact he throws one combo and as soon as he faces somebody that will fire back, he'll crumble.

bad event

thing with dunham i prob had him losing the firdst 2 rounds but gave it a 10-8 to dunham in the last i think a draw would have been a fair result. i mean dunham kneed sherk to the head about 3 times in that lasyt wtih little reply...

Cro-Cop? needs to get out now. he looked tentative, he was mean to be smaller faster, but mir was faster, more powerful etc... not good for cro cop. he's washed up.

Lytle vs Serra was quality, Lytle is quickly becoming one of my favourite fighters, always leaves it all in the cage.

I think the cut is the only thing that gave Sherk the nod in the Dunham fight, there is no way he should have won it IMO.

Cro-Cop looked awful, again, and should hang them up.

Mir looked slow and predictable, and his wrestling looked terrible for all he claimed to have worked on it.

Sherk is over the hill and his style of fighting is no longer working.
