Cheaper spec

uhmm get a cheaper keyboard
go for the phenom 955
that should save around £40
still thinking how to save another £20

edit:and as for the cheaper keyboard i mean the sub £10 ones

or just drop the 1gb gtx 460 to the 768mb shoud save around £40
but definately swap the 965 to the 955.
then you can keep that k/b if you really wanti it

The obvious thing to do would be to drop Windows, but other than that i'd suggest getting a 22" monitor instead and then saving a little on the graphics.

Drop the motherboard down to this model:

the only thing your losing is Sata 6gb/s and USB 3.

If you are a student in college or university you could get win 7 for 30 pound.

Definitely drop the CPU to a 955 and just up the multi by x1 to make it the same speed as the 965.

The PSU that Stulid suggested would be fine as well.

That should definitely drop the price down by more than 100.

Windows 7 is only an upgrade version, which is no use :(

Clean Install Windows 7 with Upgrade Media Guide
Method #2 has worked fine for me the three times I used it!

Thanks for that, that puts me on budget, £40 from windows 7, £10 for 955, and £10 for keyboard

Thanks :)

EDIT: just realised, £50 from windows 7, £10 from keyboard, allowing me to keep both gpu and cpu :D

Search your uni's website for "MSDNAA"- it's a microsoft academic alliance thing, basically your university may well have free copies of windows and other MS software available to "technical" students and staff (definitions vary). I managed to get in and get offered all the free software I wanted because I was doing a programming module. Not even sure they checked the form I filled out though.

drop the CPU down to a 955, but don't change the motherboard which has modern technology like sata and usb3.0.
