friend AWOL in Amsterdam, due to fly back soon.

BA desk won't accept a bag to look after in an airport :/

50 euros is exactly enough for you know what so it's pretty blatant what he's been up to.

What sort of a mate steals money from you?

One who is wasted on drugs!

I wouldn't mind, depending on mate, if he borrowed money. As long when he sobored up he apologised, we laughed about it, and he gave me the money back.

It's pretty easy to be all alpha on a forum and say leave him, but if it were my friend, I don't know if I could. At best, he's been a moron and done something stupid. At worst, he's dead. Could you imagine living with the guilt if you left him and he never came back?

I really don't know what I would do, but then again, I don't think any of my friends would put me in that situation unless something had gone really wrong.

As much of a numpty he is, I don't think I'd cancel my card... he could genuinely be in trouble and need the money. As others have said, leave stuff at hotel reception and perhaps get in contact with embassy/police and ask them to keep an eye out.

This almost happened to us in the summer. We were all set to ditch our overnight train because a mate hadn't turned up. Luckily he arrived seconds before it set off with us stradling the train and platform so it couldn't go. Wasn't fun incurring the wrath of an old slovenian conductor. Depending on the mate I would normally wait for them, after all I'd hope they would wait for me in the same situation. Everyone buggers up from time to time.

You seem awfully familiar with the pricing of Amsterdam's red light district.

I'd be worried sick to be honest, a mate out on his own, for whatever reason, is still a reason for me to be concerned, I always assume the worst though.

I am the kind of person that goes missing, Always have always will i s'pose, I just sort of get distracted & wander off. As i've always been like it nobody worries & i just catch up with everybody else later.
I'd leave his stuff where it is as that's where he'll look for it first.

On a side note i bopped my way back from Paris Est station to London without a Passport, tickets boarding pass or owt. One of my all time best bopping achievements.
