Identify the shroom

The Magic mushrooms (which are a totally different mushroom and strain of fungi) - which contain Psilocybin - are in fact banned dried, prepared or cooked......If fresh - there isn't a problem. This was spelled out perfectly in the law from 2005 - but has obviously been misread or misunderstood by most people.



Hope that clears up all the rubbish posted here.

Nearly: if you read the 2005 SI properly you will see it bans mushrooms which contain psilocin (or any ester thereof, e.g. psilocybin) from the moment you pick them. So there's quite a big problem if they're fresh, unless you are defining "fresh" as "still growing".

Given that whoever you quoted there doesn't know UK law I'd be inclined to ignore your advice for a number of reasons...



Fungus (of any kind) which contains psilocin or an ester of psilocin is a Class A controlled drug, no ifs or buts.

Amanita Muscaria does not contain Psilocin it's active ingredients are Muscimol and Ibotenic Acid

It's a sign of how terrible this countries legislation is, I can imagine some old woman gardening picking up a mushroom and a group of armed police descending on her.

The Amanita Muscaria is used by the Siberian Shaman. They eat them in the evening and it makes them trip but then they wake up and drink their own urine, which gives them a stronger hit that eating the mushroom.

Show me the bit where I said it did? My comment was in response to a post which I assumed had drifted onto the topic of mushrooms which do contain psilocin, as the poster was talking about it, but on re-reading simply doesn't make much sense.

Exactly, it USED to be that fresh they were perfectly legal. A guy i used to know used to pick them and just wander down the street with them in a plastic bag. Now you can't have them fresh either, hence the inability to sell them fresh anymore, which you used to be able to do.
