M5 worth buying

Awesome.

Very cool car, is it wrong that i'd pick i 135i over it though> (im guessing a gigantic yes). its just i had a peak at a 135i yesterday in the car park and i thought i looked awesome, i loved the steering wheel too looked small and sporty. its like a modern e30 m3 imho
I don't think I coudl live with spending so much on a 1 Series though.

The biggest problem with a 135i is that a 335i costs the same used.
Very true. But the 135i is a different car, it's much smaller and not as much of a 'cruiser'.

But the interior on the 335i is much better. Maybe in another few years a 135i might not be such a bad deal.

thing is, i dont really know what i think about the current m3 and 3 series, i saw a black m3 (e92) yesterday and it was a meh occasion, i saw a e46 earlier and it looked like a right sexy beast. again probably just me., but the mirrors, the size and shape of the front bumper, the grille on the side, and the lump in the bonnet make it look awesome, and a csl looks better again. i like the size of the 1 series, i would defiately consider a 1 series M when i have money in my (hopeful) future lol

At least with a 2 year old M5 you can use it how it was meant to be used and put a few miles on it without killing any value it has as a low miles mint old one.

But in the grand scheme of things the car in question hardly has super, duper low miles. It's far from a car that has lived it's life in an air conditioned bubble and I dare say that the E39 M5 won't have quite the following say E30 M3s have were people are willing to pay absoultely bonkers money for delivery miles examples.

Like it has been mentioned, it is a crap prospect for keeping "low miles" and making money. At the end of the day you'd buy it because you wanted an E39 M5 to keep for several years and cherish. If I had £10k lying around that would be in my collection for sure :).

It's 4cm wider and about 25cm longer, lets not get carried away :p
But it feels much smaller inside, where you spend all of your time :p

They're such a rip off though.
Had a nosey round a new 120d M Sport. €42,000! Ha!
I think it's that nasty strip of plastic across the dash, which has a rough bottom edge, which does it for me..

Are you sure you saw an E92 M3?

The E92 M3 has a huge bulge on the bonnet, whereas in contrast the E46 M3's bonnet bulge is barely noticeable. Both M3's have the grille on the side.

yeah i know what you mean, but like those things on the old m3 seem to come together more imo.

Saying that after looking at these and comparing im wondering if the black paint was hiding the current ones awesome-ness

Surprised at the difference in size (or lack of) in a 1 series saloon and a 3 series though seems bigger (the difference that is).

The thing thats a bit gay about bmws now is some idiot in a 335d can nearly keep up with you if your in a m3. Not like the e36 days where ALL diesels sucked

The above is an unfair comparison. At least compare it with a nice example of an E46 M3, given that you have clearly been rather selective about choosing the one of the E92...

they're all modified :(

its the only decent stock one i could find without lots of searching.

All im saying is it would annoy me if i had a new m3 knowing a 335d does 0-60 in 5. something seconds, i.e within 0.5 of my car. when my car is a v8 petrol and theres is a diesel, admittedly not just any diesel.

When i say gay i mean annoying not in a sexuality sense...

"I lost my phone yesterday"

"Gutted thats well gay"

and so on.

Really, why does this matter?

£5,000 is enough to buy a car that would have absoultely no hassle whatsoever keeping up with a M3 in a 0-60 sprint, but that's not really the point of the car, is it?

There is always something out there faster.
