HTC Desire HD (Ace)

I'm stuck on which one to get, I'm in need of a new phone. Don't know weather to get the Galaxy s or wait for this. I've had a look at deals and I can get the Galaxy s for £25 a month, get 6 month free line rental, 300 mins (don't use mins), unlimited texts and 500mb of internet. I use the internet and texts. That doesn't seem half bad for the price, but I do like the Desire HD. I can't see many good deals on the hd :(

I ordered myself a Galaxy S last night, as i don't think the difference between the two phones justifies the differance in price.

I got it for £20 a month with 100mins unlimited text and the phone free on a 18 month contract, with £40 quidco. I'll have to bump the contract upto £30 a month to get web and more minutes. But i'll be able to cancel my contract for less if i decide to cancel early (which i probably will, my n900 lasted 10 months - 12 month contract). Total cost of phone is only £320, with the £20 deal.

I am wondering why the DesireZ isn't more popular? Its the one I have pre-ordered..

I think a lot of people want a larger screen to be honest. I have no need for a slide out keyboard and have hands that are 9.75" from thumb tip to pinkie tip when splayed out which is larger than any of my family though i don't know how that compares to anyone else who wants a smaller screen. The bigger the phone the better to a point as it feels awkward otherwise.

Because 90% of people are perfectly capable of typing on a touch screen and dont want the extra bulk of a keyboard that isn't really necessary.

lol, what an odd thing to know :p

I am all in for the Z, as decent as Swype is, I just find texting so much more a chore than it was on my Touch Pro2/Xperia X1/S710.

I'd be all for the Z if I had the choice of the two. In the flesh the HD is reaching the limits of size for me in terms of what I'd like in a phone.

I dont get me wrong I had a Hero and loved it - was fine with on screen. I expect to use onscreen keyboard with the DZ when sending single handed text messages.

There is very little extra bulk physically or in weight. The DHD screen size always seemed like a con to me as the resolution is the same as the Z, so you are not seeing more and in fact the crispness of the picture will be reduced giving the Z an illusion of better picture quality.

I work for a fruit named company and my work phone is my personal phone because it's all free. I got a SGS this year :) While I could buy one I have a whole bunch of special things on the company phone that don't transfer, and insurance.

Apple iPhone 3GS: 165 ppi
Apple iPad: 132 ppi
HTC HD2: 217 ppi = htc desire hd
HTC Desire: 252 ppi
Apple iPhone 4: 326 ppi

More ppi is always nice but you have to remember 800*480 on a 4.3 is still plenty...and because its a bigger screen you dont have to hold in so close to your face. The ipad has a relatively low ppi but can still look beautiful.

Could you elaborate on this? The only thing the SGS does better so far as I can see, is the screen. And at this point, even that is debatable.

I am going to have to with draw that statement. I have just rechecked the original data that I first saw it seems that they have now updated the data. Apart from the screen, bluetooth and talk time the HTC has a few better updates in its favour in terms of connection speeds.

I am not sure it is debatable anymore as surely we would know by now what screen the Desire HD is equipped with, if it was super AMOLED then HTC would have been shouting about it long ago.

Is anyone able to confirm that the MSM7230 and MSM8255 contain 45nm Cortex A8 processors + Adreno 205. Hence the only difference between the two is the clock speed.
