How on earth is circumcision legal?

Hmmm, I'm kinda on both sides. I think it is kind of unfair on kids and up until 27 I thought mine was a result of a religious upbringing. Turns out I had some problem or other as a baby. Still, as above, the women who comment on it say they prefer it.

I knew someone who paid to have it done privately because his girlfriend preferred it, she left him about a month later and he never actually sex with her after the operation!

Oh how we laughed!

what a knob

Because it is completely unnecessary, how does it differ from female genital mutilation?

I'm pretty sure it differs a lot from female circumcision...

Some people have their twig and berries pierced.

If people want to go for the Kojak look be it for medical reasons or otherwise then why not ?

You have to admit, that is completely different.

You have to be 18 or over where as circumcision you litteraly have no choice.

I wouldn't wish it upon anyone. self mutilation.

Parents already do get their tiny kids' ears pierced.

To be fair, balls and ears are different :D.

People who are circumcised with argue it is fine, nothing to worry.
People who are not will usually adopt the OMG, its wrong, unless it's for medical reasons.

Men are massively over-protective of their penis and sexual prowess. Any mention of the other way will get them all riled if anyone else thinks their penis is better.

Men will always say "My Mrs has never complained" well, take it as a fact that a large number of women will probably have a preference, and just don't tell you out of protecting your feelings. Some women will have no preference, and will just tell you that your way is best. Others will genuinely prefer one way and be with a guy who is as they want.

This means that the argument will never be answered fully, and usually ends up in people arguing, and the discussion decends into chaos.

Some people are circumcised, some are not. Both get on with using their penis however they see fit, and I am pretty certain they have a lot of fun doing it.

Sooo, lets all just agree to love our own penis and not worry what colour the grass is like on the other side.

:D

I'm sure that's a common myth.

It's not. There are plenty of men out there who don't understand the need to wash their penis, circumcised men don't need to put in any effort, it happens automatically in the shower, unsnipped dudes definitely do need to spend 20 seconds or so having a clean.

When you are circumcised its very very painful, the head of your penis is extremely sensitive as I'm sure unsnipped dudes are well aware of, a child goes through hell while his penis's nerve endings die and numb due to overexposure. This leads to a massive loss of sensation and sexual pleasure during sex.

I for one could not walk around with my foreskin pulled back 24/7, the contact with my clothing would render me unable to move, adult circumcision is strongly advised against because of this. A baby will not remember the trauma and supposedly that means it doesn't matter.

Personally I think its a disgrace to destroy a child's penis and the pleasure he will get from sex in the name of some fairy tail or God he may grow up to not believe in, I am very great full for my penis sensitivity, sex must really suck in comparison for those who are circumcised, I'm sure they still enjoy it an awful lot but you can't miss what you have never had.

I don't think most circumcisions adversely affect the person's life however:

it is unnecessary
it causes unnecessary pain and suffering to the child
it can (and does) go wrong in some cases
it is irreversible

My criticisms only apply to child circumcisions which are for non-medical reasons. I wouldn't do it if I had kids for the same reason that I wouldn't get their ears pierced.

It's always a funny one (lol) really.

Years ago Judaism and Islam correctly saw that for their time keeping pigs was difficult and that they ate all sorts of crap - and banned the consumption of pork. A sort of functional hygienic reason. It wouldn't be far fetched to say that IF there were reasons which stood up properly then circumcision isn't a bad idea, better done as a baby I suppose rather than in adulthood.

There's some evidence to say it can help prevent diseases, I suppose fine for urinary tract infections, but chopping a bit off to prevent the transfer of a sexually transmitted disease instead of years later simply using a condom is...well...

However being that it is still up for debate, the fact it's allowed to go on simply due to religious reasons really does border on child mutilation (and don't forget it's an operation as well). Fine, if it is proved further down the line to be a beneficial to all, but arguing those reasons without undebatable definitive proof really does lead me to think it seems to be continually allowed due to faith not science.

tbh i had it done and dont see anything wrong with it. Generally only people who have aproblem with it are people who dont have it done. I have yet too meet a person whose had it done and has a issue with it. Its no worst then parents geeting their daughters ears pierced. Put it this way if anyone had it done and had an issue with it they wouldn't have it done on their childeren therefore only the people who have no issue with it would have it done to their children and so forth, therefore only people who dont have issues with it will do it. As loads of people do it, loads of people dont mind. Therefore who cares?

It is mutilation if it isn't necessary, that is my problem with it. If when the child gets older and it is needed to be done for medical reasons then it is completely understandable.

But we have good old region don't we? BS that is still being followed for some bizarre reason. After a bit of reading the earlerist recording of circumcision goes way back to Ancient Egyptian carvings on a wall.

A crock of ****.
