HTC Desire HD (Ace)

Cant decide if I should get this or go for a cheaper contract.

Spoke to Orange and they have offered me the Galaxy S for £23 a month 400mins/1500texts/500mb free phone and 12 months.

Or the Desire for £28 a month again free phone same texts/mins/net and 12 months. Seems like a bargain and wont get near that with the HD.

That's a good deal for the SGS, was it for existing customers only? Free phone I assume?

For existing only I presume as I said I was going to leave due to how poor the reception has been for me.

Yeah phone was free as well.

I went in town to look at the SGS and Desire. Orange store were awful had no idea when the HD would be out wouldn't budge on my mins/texts and were going to charge me for the phone. Didn't even have a demo phone for me to look at.

The screen on the SGS is awesome really impressed, but I am pretty fond of my Hero and the Desire/HD both look superb.

Still not completely decided would like to see the HD in the flesh first.

Tried to ring mobilephonesdirect today to confirm some details before placing my order but line was dead; then I took a look at Reviewcentre and lots of recent posts of v poor customer service; think I'll wait for reviews and more offers to emerge before I take the plunge.

He said GENUINE reviews, Techradar just call everything a review even though its a preview because they are stupid.

Thats why I never posted it before................ I only posted it becuase he seemed like he needed something even though it WAS a preview hence the security tag at the back of the phone.
I hope I have made my stance clear.

On their website they have one of those little 'live chat' help systems where you can talk to one of there guys. Found this very useful when i had a few questions.

Have we had conformation yet if the offline maps + navigation thing is coming to the normal Desire? Along with all the HTCsense remote lock stuff?

So there've been rumours the Desire might get that? The HTCSense.com remote lock might be useful to me but I'm more interested in the offline maps. :)

I would be interested to hear the features of the Desire HD that have you worried about choosing an iPhone 4.

Exactly, all it could be is Android, and a Desire/Galaxy S would have been fine for that.

Some people..... :p

Well I liking the 8 pixel camera, the larger screen and also having flash, I thought this woudnt be a problem when I got the iPhone but now starting to think twice.

The camera will in all likeliness be sub-par compared to the iPhone one (given HTC's past reputation, but I may be wrong).

Flash isn't that big of an issue, and if it is, care to explain why out of interest?

Well I watch most of my tv online meaning shows that I miss on tv. I always catching up on tv shows I missed on channel 4, also I always playin those funny mini games u get online

Absolutely no idea, but I would very much like both of those features and I would also very much not like to a) spend £450 on a handset or b) sign upto a new contract for any length of time because I will without a shadow of a doubt end up either paying more for the same or paying the same for less.

Forget the games, they're terrible on a touch screen.

However if you want to watch online tv programs the desire HD will completely blow the iPhone 4 out the water.
