Free postage to forum members?

In that light yes, for one off customers it could be a slight disadvantage, however a lot of people who buy stuff are "overclockers" and so would spend a lot of time in the forum, researching, etc before buying

PapaLazaru..I don't get free postage so I shop elsewhere & my point being? I thought that would be obvious?? Everyone shops around for the best price possible from what they know as reputable retailers...if free postage elsewhere means a cheaper price then.....does it really need spelling out?

Rroff...
"its nice to feel like I'm getting one up on the depressingly miserable delivery drivers"

I drive artics for a living..the hours are long & it's crap...b4 that I used to "deliver" stuff....this usually entailed having to deliver so much stuff within a day & you're running around like you're arse in on fire...& then you have to put up with pricks like yourselves thinking you are better than everyone else who is just doing what you are doing.....trying to earn a living the best way you can...show some courtesy to the next bloke who tries to get your goods to your door on time.

Havn't seen anyone else point out yet that it doesn't take 'a thousand posts' to get free postage :p

250 and registered for 90 days or 100 posts and registered for 1 year if my memory serves me well.

'' * OcUK Forums members who have 250 or more posts and have been registered for over 90 days, or
* OcUK Forums members who have been registered for over 12 months and made at least 100 posts
''

Exactly, especially for people interested in computers and things alike 100/250 posts is nothing!

I reckon tasslehoff is a competitor trolling.

So rewarding loyalty or contributions/joining with the community drives away customers?

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigghhht!! So the backbone(loyalty cards, which are similar) of almost every supermarket, is a worthless tactic which doesnt work at all? Someone should tell them before they all go out of business.

I still don't get your point. You shop elsewhere because it may be cheaper. Most of the forum users will shop around for items and factor in all costs before purchasing. What is the problem?

Postage is never 'free'. The costs of the postage will be factored into the pricing structure. The company still have to pay the postage so if they offer it as a perk, the losses will be made up elsewhere.

Like I said before 90% (or something near that) of the customers OcUK get, do not use the forum. Therefore their core business has nothing to do with the forum or the fact that those that do use the forum, get cheaper delivery. :)

Loyalty programs, etc are slightly different since they reward for buying. What oc do is slightly different, but similar but I wouldnt compare them

Calabi I've been a member for well over a year....& the next g-card I'll be buying will be from elsewhere...as it will work out cheaper...(free postage or not). I'm not a forum slave.

Papalazaru I can get a gigabyte gtx460 oc for £168 with free postage from a reputable company elsewhere....it would cost more than that here >>without<< the postage costs we non posters have to fork up.......what exactly is it you don't get?

Lets get back to basics.....I just wondered why free postage was only for loyal posters as opposed to buyers....when there is competition elsewhere...it's not too difficult a question to grasp so some of you drop the troll remarks etc thinking youre' funny & try seeing if your balls have dropped yet b4 posting. Goes for you too Papa....grow up instead of deciding your in a battle of words.

I've been a member since 2008 and I viewed the forums for about a year before that. Plus look at my number of posts its way below the average compared to people like Tefal or Rroff. I post very infrequently, I got them up to the required number without even trying.

If the price is cheaper elsewhere then thats fair enough, thats what the markets about, but some people take other things into account when they buy things. Like the service and extras that get provided with the products, which is something Overclockers does well.

Because the owners of the business decided it was a good idea to reward the community members with a little perk. The community members make up a very small proportion of the overall sales.

I don't think I am being funny and I have answered your questions already, which you seem to have ignored.

The fact remains, that you state that you shop elsewhere regardless of the postage costs at OcUK, and therefore your original post bears no useful meaning to anybody. So you shop elsewhere? So what? What is the point of your thread apart from trying to cause a problem?

OcUK know their business better than both you and I. Thanks for the insult as well, it did make me smile. ;)

Well Calabi your last post (whether I agree with it or not) is a good answer to my query....along with some others....don't understand the petty "troll" bitching etc along the way tho....hardly a good "advert" in response to a buyers original query. (well done those)

Ocuk never claimed to have the lowest price on every item they sell. Some of their items are priced extremely competitively, where as others aren't. Pretty much the same as every shop. When I built my last system, to get the best price I got half of the components from here, and the other half from a competitor. What exactly is it you don't get?

PapaLazaru my post is only a problem because you want it to be. & a post which you insisted on being problematic. Again...I merely wondered why forum members get free postage when possible loyal customers....ie...those that support ocUK with their custom yet don't use the forum, have to pay...it was just a passing simple question which you thought you take up & be a smartarse with words...nothing more. (Which you still don't get)

It's not what I don't get..it's what the monkey above fails to grasp.....nor have I implied OcUk claims to have the cheaper prices...& I shopped at OCUK fo the same reasons you do..but would like to be a loyal customer without having to be a loyal forum member for free postage<<<<<my query was simple..& it was just that...a query......no need for everyone to jump on a defensive bandwagon.

My 2 cents on OC's prices: some of them are competitive, some of them aren't. Sometimes you get a bargain.

Sounds exactly like the shop I work in too... Perhaps this is most shops?

And isn't looking and finding the bargain half the fun? :)
