My wife has a blackberry contract with o2. shes about 6 months into it and not looking to change, but three keep ringing her asking her if she is currently in a contract and would she like to switch to three.

We keep asking the people who ring to stop ringing us, they dont have any details about us, just merely a phone number. Every time we ring they start off again from scratch (do you have a contract currently madam ?) and every time we tell them to put a note on their system to stop calling her, but so far to no avail as they keep ringing.

I dont want them to have our number, when pressed they state it they got it from ofcomm which i highly doubt

Any ideas how i can get them to stop ringing ?

I get this as well, not sure where they got my number from.

The amusing thing is that I work for a different telco so I ask them if they can beat my tariff of unlimited voice, texts and data for £0 a month. ;)

I get a phonecall from the AA three times a day since I left them last week. That's right, three times a day! Most of them are blank calls.

Register the mobile number with the TPS (you can register mobiles).

Then contract 3 and ask them to stop harassing your wife. Do it in writing do not ring the call centre, they won't be able to help.

I had this for about a month, no matter what i told them about taking my number off their system they kept calling back. The last time they called i just told them it was a work phone and i had nothing to do with any renewals for it, not had a call about it again!

Tell them you are MrLOL from OcUK and will spam them back with unbridled guff if they don't stop forthwith. If the person you're talking to has ever seen these forums, they'll definitely take your threat seriously :D.

I had this for about 3 months running up to the end of my last contract. I didn't think anything of it at the time because I was actually interested in finding a new deal. After a while I got annoyed because they kept calling every week and in the end I just asked if they could beat a deal I was being offered by another network, they couldn't and seemed to give up.

This was 3 as well.

My missus still gets calls etc. from 3 offering her contracts even though she is with 3 currently

i've registered with the telephone preference service.

they said they got the number from ofcom, and that if i want them to stop ringing i have to contact them.

i've read between the lines and got the gist that they've bought my number and the only way to stop them being able to buy it is to register with the TPS (which sure enoug the ofcom website says to do if you dont want sales calls)

I usually ask for their employee ID, full company name and other details, then try and sell them stuff. When they ask why I am trying to sell them stuff I ask the same back.

Are you sure its actually Three calling? I had this towards the end of my last contract and although they made it sound as if they worked for Three, the company was called something slightly different and from what I could make out they weren't affiliated with Three at all.

As mentioned above, after the fourth or fifth call I blagged that it was work phone and I had nothing to do with the contract.

By law, even if requested verbally they have to remove the number.

No need to put in writing....well there should be no need to put it in writing.

I agree but having worked for 3 and seen some of their practices - its always best to deal with them in writing.

yes because the first thing they say is "this is the mobile network three calling"

I wish I was joking but some mother hubbards made a company called "orange mobile" and starting calling all our customers pretending to be us to get contract renewals. It's hard to tell when you're dealing with the real deal but if you want proof, ask them for details that only they would know (the contract you're on, first 2 letters of the road you live in etc...)

Were they Scottish by any chance?

We had a 3 contract here at work (outsource call centre) and were in the same suite as me. It was a comical practise to say the least. About 6 sales in a day from about 50 agents. Just makes me glad Im not on the phones any more. Not sure what other call centres they use but it lasted a grand total of 1 month here as was pulled
