How on earth is circumcision legal?

There's no way I could "arrive" by just having my foreskin stimulated so let's just say that's ********.

Also I love how the urology journal is supposed to prove my penis wrong. :p

It's not. There are plenty of men out there who don't understand the need to wash their penis, circumcised men don't need to put in any effort, it happens automatically in the shower, unsnipped dudes definitely do need to spend 20 seconds or so having a clean.

When you are circumcised its very very painful, the head of your penis is extremely sensitive as I'm sure unsnipped dudes are well aware of, a child goes through hell while his penis's nerve endings die and numb due to overexposure. This leads to a massive loss of sensation and sexual pleasure during sex.

I for one could not walk around with my foreskin pulled back 24/7, the contact with my clothing would render me unable to move, adult circumcision is strongly advised against because of this. A baby will not remember the trauma and supposedly that means it doesn't matter.

Personally I think its a disgrace to destroy a child's penis and the pleasure he will get from sex in the name of some fairy tail or God he may grow up to not believe in, I am very great full for my penis sensitivity, sex must really suck in comparison for those who are circumcised, I'm sure they still enjoy it an awful lot but you can't miss what you have never had.

Ive had sex before and after the operation, sex is no different whatsoever in terms of pleasure and what you can feel or cant feel.

No, he's right. ChrisJSY claimed that the most sensitive part is removed, which is wrong - the most sensitive part either way is the glans, and only the foreskin is removed, which isn't very sensitive by comparison.

No that's what I said which is correct.

Sorrells et al BJU April 2007

The glans of the circumcised penis is less
sensitive to fine touch than the glans of the
uncircumcised penis. The transitional region
from the external to the internal prepuce
is the most sensitive region of the
uncircumcised penis and more sensitive than
the most sensitive region of the circumcised
penis. Circumcision ablates the most sensitive
parts of the penis.

That path is lined with more dubious restrictions on people's faith and lifestyle, and ultimately the physical risk is simply not significant - especially in a medically advanced culture, where the practice is more safe and uncomplicated than anywhere else in the world.

Say that to the kids who have died. I don't think that we can allow child abuse because of religion.

Same as some others, I am myself for medical reasons. Foreskin just couldnt keep up with the growth rate.

Same deal here. Had it done when I was 25. No regrets at all.

I am surprized that you guys are wasting your time questioning the legaliy of something just because it is required or recommended by religion. Piercing is legal but no one questioned the practice when it is a waste of money, bad taste and doesn't have any health benefits.

That's because choosing to have a piercing is just that, a choice. Genital mutilation of a child is not.

The difference once again being consent. I would also be quite happy for piercing to be 16+ too. I shall let my wife know that you think her pierced ears are in bad taste...:D

While I agree in that I don't think circumcision should be imposed upon babies, I disagree that it should be outlawed - it's too important to some people's creed to ban on the basis of public opinion. That path is lined with more dubious restrictions on people's faith and lifestyle, and ultimately the physical risk is simply not significant - especially in a medically advanced culture, where the practice is more safe and uncomplicated than anywhere else in the world.

I don't think anyone is calling for it to be totally outlawed. I have absolutely no issue if an adult decides to be circumsised, your body after all. It is the forcing of it onto children. If they want it done let them decide for themselves when they are legally allowed to make such decisions. (i.e. 16+)

Would you rather people do it under close supervision and acceptance, perhaps even performed by a doctor. Or would you rather make it illegal and have people do it on the back of a dark alley somewhere?

It's a tradition from a massive religion and unfortunately you can't just ignore that. People are gonna do what they gotta do when it comes to religion, legal or not.

female mutilation is illegal and it is a tradition , you can't just ignore that, people are gonna do what they gotta do when it comes to tradition, legeal or not.

I'm afraid you're wrong, take a look at the British Journal of Urology.

Nope, I'm not wrong. You'd be assuming I don't know my own body and what feels better before or after the operation. I'm telling you for me it is more sensitive. You obviously didn't know the problem I had before that was preventing full stimulation, so I'll let it slide. :p

No I'm not, your body is irrelevant in the general context. I am however assuming that you did not undergo the test in the BJU and you are confusing intensity, pleasure and sensitivity.

Your Mileage May Vary . . . and you appear to be "different" :p

There were no significant differences in sexual drive, erection, ejaculation, and ejaculation latency time between circumcised and uncircumcised men. ... About 6% answered that their sex lives improved, while 20% reported a worse sex life after circumcision.

There was a decrease in masturbatory pleasure and sexual enjoyment after circumcision, indicating that adult circumcision adversely affects sexual function in many men, possibly because of complications of the surgery and a loss of nerve endings. (British Journal of Urology)
I'm sure that there are other scientific studies that will disagree with this research - go find them . . .

I understand. Pierced ears are fine. There is nothing wrong with your wife's taste. After all, she chose you.

Her one failing...

I wan't referring to ear piercing, though, but piercing of "other parts" that is annoying and pointless to me.

The worldview where cutting part of a boy's penis off is fine and yet having a lip, nose, eyebrow, nipple or clitoris piercing is wrong is something I find somewhat amusing. Especially when one is done without permission and the other is always with consent. But I suppose as God told you to do it, it must be OK. :)

Don't worry about it guys, its all good - i had mine for medical reasons when i was, i dunno, 5 or something.

It has made only a positive difference to my life.

I don't think anyone is arguing against it for medical reasons.

It has made only a positive difference to my life.

With all due respect you have no real idea if it has been positive or negative as you have never really experienced it any other way.

British Medical Journal 2: 1458–1459. ""...in parts of West Africa, where the operation is performed at about 8 years of age, the prepuce is dipped in brandy and eaten by the patient; in other districts the operator is enjoined to consume the fruits of his handiwork, and yet a further practice, in Madagascar, is to wrap the operation specifically in a banana leaf and feed it to a calf.
