friend said I was being racist

So, a friend of mine asked me my opinion on opening a chinese take away/restaurant, he asked me what I think he should call it.

So I said, call it "Be hungry in 30", now, don't get me wrong, I love chinese food and I know it's a stereotype but I thought people would find it catchy and funny? I wasnt being racist??

Was i?

As an Orientalist myself...sowwee ba yu fai(l) so ba... :p

As in every type of fast or wait around for a while food there are good takeaways and bad takeaways.

'Be hungry in 30' can also apply to Maccy D's or any other fast foods. So I wouldn't take it too personally as you are generalising. Apart from Indian food I do like Indian food!!! om nom nom nom!

I do have to note that the food served in these places are catered to the western taste buds and we actually rarely eat what's on the menu...instead we feed on chickens feet and pig intestines all of the time...(kidding, kidding please keep hold of your half digested food) these are delicacies.

We generally eat really healthy diet of cup noodles and fwy wice :)

Ok for real there is a lot of healthy cooking going on in a Chinese kitchen and rarely is a ready meal bought or half prepared stick some sauce and pop it in the oven stuff going on, our fridge is packed full of fresh unprocessed ingredients and not necessarily follow any recipe just whatever you think tastes good cook it.

Back to the point no OP I don't you where being racist there if you said the...I quote (I am one and I can say it, but it still smarts a bit so no need to sensor me)..."The Chinkies" That I would find cutting :)

I wouldn't have said you were being racist but equally you weren't being particularly funny either. It's also not usually a great idea to draw attention to the (potential) shortcomings or defects of the product you are selling if you want to remain in business. Telling someone that your product will leave them unsatisfied doesn't seem like the shrewdest move you can make...

I've had chicken feet before, taste bland and just really bony.

Not racist as you are not attacking anyone based on race, but attacking a cuisine based on satisfaction. But you come off a bit ignorant
