I've just sorted out a deal on an Evil Sovereign frame, quite a good buy I think, going to build it up as a bit of a trail/AM/dj bike, can't wait to get on a hardtail again, it's gonna be a bunnyhop machine :D Might eventually get good at pump tracks too.

If anyone has some Talas forks/similar for sale then I'd be interested.

Is this a good deal ?

Cool story bro alert

On Monday I had my first crash since starting cycling three months ago. :( I knew it would have to happen sooner or later, and I'd forgotten how much tarmac hurts when hit at speed. :D

I was on my usual route and got to a point where the the road narrows and I had to move over to let oncoming car pass. I was watching the car, so failed to notice the green fencing wire some absolute ******* had dumped in the verge, and which had started trailing on the road.

I can only assume it caught either the pedal/crank or the frame. All I do know is it must have unravelled a bit, then stopped. I was pitched over the top and did a bit of a commando role on the road. I'm just thankful the car was far enough away or I'd have gone under it. Glad I was wearing a helmet too, which is something I never thought I'd say. I certainly hit the side of the helmet as well as nicely grazing my arm, shoulder, knee and getting some neck discomfort later on too.

You'll be glad to know I manned up and finished the ride. ;)

Stiffee hasnt made a come back then ? :(

:( no. But I keep smiling!

Had an absolute shocker today, went out on my normal route today which is basically an old railway line and some nice forest, better for fitness than technical.

So started off hopped on the railway line and fell off going through a gate as I was concentrating on a log the other side, made myself a right muddy state and ripped the end plug of my new lock on grips! :( aswell as a few bruises.

Then about half way a long go onto a good downhill bit and my smallest crank/cog? fell off, was like wtf? how did that happen, so parked up and had a thought how is best to fix this routed around what i had which was ooh nothing, but found a lacky band and kept it on with that until I got home. See the picture below.

]

How would I go about fixing this, just looks as though the 4 bolts/screws that hold it on have come out somehow?

Then finally got a puncture from possibly the smallest thorn in the world about 2 miles from home!

Fun times.

Looking at buying some Juicy 5's from someone, however the rear brake hose is too short.

Which parts would I need to buy to fit a new hose? Hose, olive & barb and a new "banjo"?

Thanks :)

Can anyone tell me, Is an SLX crank better than an old XTR M960 as per the pic below, which is exactly what im running .inc the blackspire chainrings:confused:

If the XTR is working then no. The only issue with that model of XTR is their non-standard BCD for the rings and the spider arm if you wanted to run a bashguard from the middle ring. As long as you can still get the Blackspire rings and the rest of the crank is fine then I see no reason to change.

edit: those crank arms are very popular with singlespeeders as they're very pretty when polished, running just the one ring and the 3rd bolt tab is cut away.

Yeah thats what ive recently found out , its pretty much impossible to buy a bashguard for the m960 which is what i was planning on doing along with a guide.

The blackspire rings are still availble on CRC pretty cheap so its probably not worth me doing the up(down)grade to the SLX.

WOW the Epic has arrived! :D:D It must be the first in the country!! :o
looks slightly different to the photos on line  not in a bad way though.
Photos up tonight after work, and after the bell and reflectors are removed. lol

Out tomorrow for my first ride.

Ok been absent for a bit, moved house so i havent much time to browse and what ever...But my rear cassette, rear mech and chain all need replacing, done over 1000miles on each lol.
So my thinking is as follows
SRAM PG980 Cassette 9sp - what ratio not a clue
SRAM X7 Rear Derailleur 9sp 2010
KMC X9 93 Chain Silver

As for the cassette ratio im a little baffled by this, im running a double up front with a 36t middle/top ring and standard granny ring, so which ratio would be better? And could i get away with using a short mech instead of my current medium or not.

Cool.
I'm guessing you are referring to the seat frame support? Small/Medium frame don't have an extra section but the large/XL frame sizes do.

I've just scored a brand new unused Pinarello MOst 3k full carbon stem for my FP1 on that well known auction site for a bargain price of £40. Absolutely pointless and unneeded bit of kit, but just look at it..........drools. :p
